Our client is seeking a

Technical Product Manager

to lead the development and evolution of a technology platform focused on optimizing building energy systems and mechanical infrastructure. This individual will serve as the technical expert responsible for translating operational building performance data into product enhancements, new features, and long-term platform strategy.

The ideal candidate will combine a strong background in HVAC, energy, controls, or building systems engineering with experience collaborating across technical and business teams. This role will work closely with software developers, operations personnel, and customers to improve system visibility, fault detection, performance analytics, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for building mechanical and energy systems.
  • Translate technical requirements and operational challenges into product specifications and development priorities.
  • Analyze system performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Define KPIs, alerts, and performance metrics for energy and HVAC-related assets.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to guide feature design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Support product roadmap development and long-term strategic planning.
  • Engage with customers and end users to understand operational needs and gather product feedback.
  • Assist in developing data quality standards, reporting tools, and analytics capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC, building automation, controls, energy engineering, commissioning, building performance, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, hydronic systems, heat pumps, and building operations.
  • Experience with BAS/BMS platforms, IoT systems, controls, or operational building data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both engineering and software development teams.
  • Experience developing technical requirements, specifications, or product documentation is highly preferred.
