Role Overview: The occupational therapist assesses, plans, and participates in rehabilitative programs to improve patients’ daily activities, mobility, cognition, strength, coordination, and range of motion. Services are delivered across the continuum, emphasizing quality, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Treatment Planning and Care: Implements treatment plans, selects appropriate activities, revises goals with patient/family input, provides education, discharge instructions, and referrals.
- Patient Assessment: Collaborates with physicians to establish and evaluate treatment plans, goals, and discharge strategies, involving patients and families in care planning.
- Documentation: Records evaluations, treatment sessions, education, and discharge details per departmental guidelines.
- Professional and Customer Service: Upholds ethical standards, maintains confidentiality, demonstrates effective communication, participates in meetings, fosters teamwork, and applies customer service principles like AIDET.
- Professional Development: Engages in ongoing education, maintains licensure, participates in orientation, and adheres to hospital policies.
- Additional Duties: Performs assigned tasks, ensures safety, and complies with organizational standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Licenses: Occupational Therapist license and BLS certification.
- Effective communication, customer service orientation, teamwork, and basic computer skills.
