At Live Oak Contracting, we believe great construction starts with great relationships. As a full-service general contractor specializing in multifamily and commercial construction, we're committed to integrity, collaboration, and doing things the right way.
We're looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with a team, and understands the important role financial accuracy plays in successful construction projects.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You'll work closely with our Finance and Operations teams to keep projects financially organized and on track, from startup through closeout.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage day-to-day job cost accounting for assigned construction projects, including entering contracts, subcontracts, approved budgets, and change orders.
- Review, cost code, obtain approvals for, and enter invoices; support weekly check runs and monthly client and subcontractor pay applications.
- Prepare and track lien waivers and other required payment documentation, including final lien waivers during project close-out.
- Generate and distribute monthly job cost reports, monitor budget performance, and help identify and explain cost variances.
- Respond promptly to subcontractor and vendor inquiries, monitor special payment terms, and manage joint check agreements.
- Support multi-state sales tax reporting and compliance with applicable labor standards.
- Maintain accurate electronic project records and collaborate with project teams to resolve billing, cost, and documentation issues.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma required.
- At least 2 years of related construction experience; multifamily construction experience preferred.
- Experience with construction accounting software such as Sage 300, Viewpoint, or Procore preferred.
- Working knowledge of GAAP principles and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies and understand job cost variances.
- Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines while maintaining accurate records.
WHY LIVE OAK?
At Live Oak, construction is about more than buildings, it's about people, trust, and relationships that make great work possible. We value a collaborative approach, quality, and doing the job right. If you take pride in accuracy, enjoy working with a team, and want to grow with a company focused on long-term partnerships, we'd like to hear from you.
