**POSITION SUMMARY**
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the advanced administration, engineering, and lifecycle support of assigned business systems. This role leads complex troubleshooting, upgrades, integrations, enhancements, and projects; translates business requirements into sustainable technical solutions; and serves as the senior subject matter expert for assigned platforms.
The Senior Systems Engineer workswith limited oversight, manages vendor and stakeholder relationships, provides technical guidance to other engineers, and ensures systems are reliable, secure, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS \& RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides advanced third\-level support for complex or high\-impact incidents; leads root\-cause analysis, coordinates resolution, and identifies preventive improvements.
- Serves as the senior technical owner and subject matter expert for assigned systems, including architecture, integrations, configurations, environments, access, performance, and operational controls.
- Leads complex upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and system projects from requirements through implementation and stabilization.
- Translates business use cases into technical requirements, solution designs, dependencies, acceptance criteria, test plans, and implementation work items.
- Coordinates quality assurance and user acceptance testing, including test strategy, scenarios, scripts, defect resolution, and implementation readiness.
- Manages strategic vendor relationships for assigned systems, including contracts, service\-level commitments, escalations, release planning, and delivery quality.
- Develops and maintains advanced procedures, system diagrams, recovery documentation, support models, training materials, and knowledge resources.
- Assesses system health, capacity, risk, technical debt, lifecycle status, and compliance requirements; recommends and leads remediation.
- Mentors System Engineers, provides technical guidance, and promotes consistent engineering and documentation practices.
- Partners with business and technology stakeholders to prioritize work, communicate impacts and risks, and deliver approved system capabilities.
**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**
- Working knowledge of consumer banking products across deposits, cards, and lending.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
- Working knowledge of Jira or comparable work\-management tools.
- Strong analytical, prioritization, documentation, and time\-management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
- Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, diplomacy, and commitment to continuous learning.
- Ability to lead complex technical work, influence stakeholders, and mentor other engineers.
**EDUCATION, TRAINING \& EXPERIENCE**
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree preferred.
- 5\+ years of directly related experience in systems engineering, system administration, application support, or a similar role.
- Progression to the Senior System Engineer position is based on sustained work performance, demonstrated competencies, scope of responsibility, and organizational readiness, not length of employment or years of service.
**WORK ARRANGEMENT:**
The working arrangement for this position is hybrid or remote. Hybrid work is an opportunity to find the right balance between working in the office and remotely, especially if it supports individual success and the needs of our organization. Hybrid schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business unit needs and may vary by department.
Although a remote work arrangement may be authorized, those working in a remote position should expect occasional travel to headquarters or other business locations as necessary for work purposes.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, speak, read, write, see, hear, push or pull (with or without accommodation).
- Frequently remains sitting in a stationary position for extended periods of time operating office/computer equipment.
- Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds.
**TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS**
Travel will be required for ongoing training, meetings and/or other business needs.
