Job description
About this role
About the Role
Lifetime Quality Roofing is hiring a Controller to own day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. You will own the monthly close, job-level profitability, cash, and compliance across our multi-state roofing operation.
Responsibilities
Close and reporting
- Own the monthly close: bank and credit card reconciliations, accruals, and branch-level P&Ls, delivered by business day 10.
- Partner with FP&A to produce a monthly package for ownership: P&L by branch, cash position, AR/AP aging, backlog, and gross margin vs. budget.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and close checklist so the process is documented and repeatable.
Cash, AR, and AP
- Run a rolling 13-week cash forecast, updated weekly.
- Own collections: insurance carrier checks, homeowner balances, and deductibles. Report aging weekly.
- Run the weekly AP and subcontractor/crew payment cycle.
Payroll, commissions, and compliance
- Oversee sales commission calculation and accuracy across states.
- Own multi-state sales tax, payroll tax, licensing, and 1099 compliance; coordinate with the outside CPA on year-end and tax filings.
Systems and team
- Own the job-management system (AccuLynx) to accounting handoff and the accounting software; fix integration and data-entry gaps at the source.
- Supervise and develop the AP/AR and bookkeeping staff.
- Build and document SOPs for every recurring accounting task.
Requirements
Must have
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in a home service business (roofing, exterior, HVAC, plumbing, or similar).
- Multi-state, multi-branch accounting, including sales tax and payroll tax.
- Proven record of closing the books on a fixed timeline and building a repeatable process.
- Has supervised accounting staff.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Nice to have
- Experience with AccuLynx or a comparable roofing job-management system, and with QuickBooks or an equivalent ERP.
- Experience improving margins and cash flow in a growing multi-branch company.
- Experience with surety bonding, lender covenants, or lines of credit.
- Experience with insurance-funded (storm restoration) revenue: claim payments, supplements, deductibles.
Salary:
- Six-figure salary commensurate with candidate experience level.
