Mandarin Chinese Required

Leo Brown’s Complete Auto Care

Covina, CA

Pay: $27.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience

Full-Time | On-Site

Leo Brown’s Complete Auto Care is looking for an experienced automotive professional who can help manage the daily flow of a busy independent repair shop.

This is more than a traditional service advisor position. We are looking for someone who understands vehicles and the repair process, can communicate effectively between customers and technicians, and can help keep the entire shop organized from vehicle intake through final delivery.

Fluent Mandarin Chinese is required for this position because you will communicate regularly with Mandarin-speaking technicians and customers.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You will help oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop, including:

  • Greeting customers and documenting vehicle concerns accurately
  • Answering phone calls, texts, and appointment inquiries
  • Creating and managing repair orders
  • Reviewing technician findings and translating them into clear customer explanations
  • Preparing estimates and presenting recommended repairs
  • Obtaining customer authorization before work begins
  • Keeping customers updated on repair progress, parts delays, approvals, and completion times
  • Coordinating daily workflow between the front office and technicians
  • Monitoring repair progress and helping ensure vehicles are completed on schedule
  • Prioritizing jobs based on parts availability, technician workload, customer needs, and promised completion dates
  • Ordering parts and communicating with vendors
  • Following up on parts availability, ETAs, returns, credits, and incorrect parts
  • Reviewing parts and labor before finalizing invoices
  • Scheduling incoming vehicles and managing shop capacity
  • Performing or coordinating vehicle intake and inspection documentation
  • Collecting photos, technician notes, scan results, and other documentation when needed
  • Following up with customers on estimates, declined repairs, and completed work
  • Maintaining organized customer and vehicle records
  • Helping ensure completed repair orders are properly closed and ready for bookkeeping/accounting

Warranty & Insurance Experience

A major part of our business involves extended-warranty and insurance-related repairs.

The ideal candidate should understand, or be willing to quickly learn, processes involving:

  • Extended warranty companies and vehicle service contracts
  • SilverRock, Assurant, Portfolio, Ascent, and similar administrators
  • Initial claim setup
  • Diagnostic authorization
  • Repair authorization
  • Technician documentation
  • Photos and inspection requirements
  • Parts and labor breakdowns
  • Inspector coordination
  • Supplemental repair requests
  • Adjuster and claims-administrator communication
  • Payment and authorization follow-up
  • Explaining approved and non-covered repairs to customers

You do not need to know every warranty company on day one, but you must understand how automotive diagnosis, estimates, labor, parts, and repair authorization work.

Software & Systems

Experience with any of the following is strongly preferred:

  • Mitchell1 / Manager SE
  • ProDemand
  • ALLDATA
  • Automotive labor guides
  • Digital vehicle inspection systems
  • Parts vendor platforms
  • Google Workspace
  • Basic invoicing and shop-management software

If you have strong automotive experience but have not used our exact software, that is fine. You must be comfortable with computers and able to learn new systems quickly.

What We’re Looking For

You should have:

  • Automotive repair or service-advisor experience
  • Strong understanding of how vehicles and repair processes work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technicians
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers
  • Experience preparing or reviewing estimates
  • Strong organization and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple vehicles and priorities at the same time
  • Good phone, text, and in-person customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to keep technicians supplied with information and parts so work continues efficiently
  • A sense of urgency when vehicles are waiting for approvals, parts, or customer decisions
  • Professional and respectful communication

Language Requirement

Fluent Mandarin Chinese is required.

English proficiency is also necessary because this position communicates with customers, insurance companies, warranty administrators, vendors, and other business partners.

The Person Who Will Succeed Here

We are not looking for someone who simply sits at the front counter and answers phones.

We need someone who can look at the entire shop and understand what needs to happen next.

You should be comfortable asking:

  • What is holding this vehicle up?
  • Has the customer approved the repair?
  • Have the parts been ordered?
  • Did the warranty company authorize the work?
  • Does the technician have everything needed?
  • Is the customer expecting the vehicle today?
  • Is there additional work that needs to be documented?
  • What needs to happen to get this vehicle completed and out of the shop?

The goal is to keep communication clear, technicians productive, customers informed, and vehicles moving through the shop efficiently.

Compensation

$27.00–$30.00 per hour depending on automotive knowledge, experience, management ability, and warranty/insurance experience.

Candidates with strong automotive repair knowledge, service-advisor experience, shop-management experience, and experience dealing with warranty or insurance claims will receive priority consideration.
