People & Operations Manager

About Us

Ledgers Inc. is a local accounting firm with 20–25 people in South Dakota and Minnesota. We help farms, businesses and nonprofits with bookkeeping, payroll, tax and accounting. We run on EOS and care about our people.

The Role

You'll report to our COO and be the go-to person for our team. This role owns HR, payroll and benefits, supervises our part-time IT employee, and leads our marketing. As the firm grows, there's room to take on more supervision and leadership.

What You'll Do

• Handle hiring, onboarding, policies and employee files
• Run in-house payroll in Patriot and track PTO
• Manage benefits, open enrollment and leave, including MN Paid Leave
• Keep us in line with SD and MN employment rules
• Help run EOS in Ninety: L10 meetings, rocks, scorecards, quarterly conversations, the People Analyzer and the Accountability Chart
• Support the COO with check-ins and coaching, and be a steady person staff can come to
• Supervise our part-time IT employee, with room to take on more direct reports over time
• Own our marketing: build a yearly plan, manage the website and social media, lead community events and sponsorships, and put out the client tax letter
• Use AI and our software tools to cut down routine work

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years in HR, payroll or office/people management
• Supervisory experience, or a clear interest in growing into leadership
• EOS experience is a plus, or you're willing to learn it
• SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus, not required
• Organized, discreet and calm under pressure
• Comfortable with technology and new tools
• Able to work onsite in Watertown
