Senior Tax Accountant

Laufer LLP is a well-established Long Island accounting and advisory firm seeking an experienced Tax Senior to join our growing tax team. This position offers exposure to a diverse client base, meaningful client interaction, manageable busy-season expectations, and a flexible, collaborative work environment.

Essential Functions

• Prepare tax returns for companies, partnerships, and individuals, including multi-state and multi-source income
• Prepare extensions and calculate any tax payments that are required
• Prepare estimated tax payments
• Tax planning for clients
• Prepare schedules, forecasts, and reconciliations of tax returns

· Communicate directly with clients to obtain, review, and organize the financial information needed to complete tax engagements

• Review and analyze tax files in order to compile and organize client tax data in preparation for tax return processing
• Researching tax issues as they arise
• Draft responses to notices from tax authorities

· Understanding of federal and state tax laws

· Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and work collaboratively on assignments

· Build working relationships with peers, management, and client personnel

Qualifications

· Minimum 4 years of tax preparation experience within a public accounting firm

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

· CPA preferred or must be already sitting or eligible to sit for CPA exams

· Ability to work independently on assigned tasks & learn from other team members

· Self-motivated and ambitious

· Knowledge of CCH Axcess Tax, ProSystem Engagement and ProSystem Fixed Assets is a plus

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
