The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting operations and serve as a trusted financial partner to our leadership team.

This is an important leadership position for someone who enjoys working close to the business, takes ownership of financial reporting, and understands the financial and operational dynamics of a manufacturing company.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a practical, hands-on approach. They are comfortable preparing and reviewing financial statements, resolving complex accounting issues, managing a team, and ensuring an accurate and timely monthly close.

Working closely with our CEO and cross-functional leadership teams, the Controller will oversee accounting, financial reporting, cash management, manufacturing cost accounting, inventory controls, budgeting, and forecasting.

This position also offers opportunities to collaborate with our international teams, including our colleagues in France.

  • Maintain strong accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement accuracy.
  • Manage and develop accounting team members while maintaining hands-on involvement in key accounting processes.

Manufacturing Accounting & Inventory

  • Oversee inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, product costing, and manufacturing accounting.
  • Partner with Operations, Production Planning, and Supply Chain to ensure accurate production and inventory transactions.
  • Analyze material, labor, overhead, and manufacturing cost variances.
  • Oversee inventory reconciliations, physical counts, and inventory reserves.
  • Drive improvements in product costing, manufacturing cost visibility, and inventory-related financial controls.

Financial Planning & Business Partnership

  • Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reporting.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful financial and operational KPIs.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend improvements.
  • Support cash management, working capital, capital investment analysis, and financial decision-making.
  • Provide actionable financial insights to executive leadership.

Systems, Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Maintain and optimize financial processes within SAP Business One.
  • Strengthen financial controls and improve accounting workflows, data integrity, and reporting accuracy.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and financial compliance requirements.

  • Experience with SAP / SAP Business One.
  • Experience with standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial analysis.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, collaborative, and evolving business environment.

Preferred

  • CPA certification.
  • Food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods experience.
  • Experience with international subsidiaries and multi-entity accounting.
  • French language proficiency is a plus, supporting collaboration with our France-based colleagues.
