About this role

About Knox Ricksen LLP

Knox Ricksen LLP is an established civil litigation firm dedicated to representing whistleblowers and victims of fraud. Our litigation teams work with individuals and organizations, including insurers and self-insured organizations to investigate and litigating sophisticated fraud matters involving significant financial losses.

The Role

Knox Ricksen is seeking a Texas-licensed attorney with 2 to 4 years of civil litigation experience to join our Complex Fraud Litigation practice. This is a remote position for a motivated attorney who prefers to work as part of a collaborative team and is passionate about vindicating victims’ rights.

The attorney hired for this role will work on alongside and learn from seasoned attorneys, and as a team they will litigate civil fraud cases from the investigation phase through discovery, motion practice, and trial. They will hone their litigation skills including written and oral advocacy, legal analysis and research, and developing and implementing litigation strategies in complex disputes.

The ideal candidate has the following qualities:

  • Ownership and initiative – Takes responsibility for assignments and drives matters forward without requiring constant supervision
  • Strong litigation skills – Demonstrates excellent legal research, writing, discovery, and case-management abilities.
  • Sound judgment – Identifies important issues, makes practical decisions, and knows when to seek guidance.
  • Organization and reliability – Manages deadlines, competing priorities, and complex factual records effectively.
  • Collaborative leadership – Works well with attorneys and paralegals on their task

The annual billable hour expectation is 1850 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Legal Research – Conduct legal research and draft memoranda to support case strategy and motion practice
  • Legal Writing– Prepare initial drafts of motions, discovery requests and responses, deposition outlines, and meet-and-confer correspondence
  • Document Review & Evidence Analysis – Perform document review, annotation, evidence summaries, chronologies, and evidence rubrics
  • Investigations – Complete investigative tasks and draft investigative memoranda
  • Hearings & Depositions – Support hearing, deposition, expert, and trial preparation; attend proceedings as assigned and take select depositions as experience develops

Qualifications

  • Licensed in Texas and in good standing.
  • 2-4 years of civil litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team
  • Excellent organizational skills
