Staff Accountant

Description:

Growing real estate law firm is looking for a staff accountant to join our dynamic and engaging Cleveland group that offers a tremendous opportunity for long term advancement and professional development opportunities. This position regularly handles matters related to a wide variety of cases including enforcement of property restrictions, contract disputes, construction defects, and other real property issues.

Accounts Payable (AP):

• Enter and process vendor invoices with appropriate coding and documentation
• Prepare payments via check or credit card
• Maintain vendor records and ensure tax documentation is up to date
• Address vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Assist with credit card reconciliation and month-end close

Accounts Receivable (AR):

• Process incoming payments (checks, ACH, wires) and prepare bank deposits
• Post payments to customer accounts accurately
• Follow up on payment discrepancies or short payments

General Accounting

Support:

• Assist with journal entries and general ledger coding as assigned
• Support audits, reporting, and internal documentation needs
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial procedures

Requirements:

Associate’s degree in accounting or related field required (Bachelor’s preferred)

1–2 years of experience in accounting support (AP, AR, and/or payroll)

Experience in law firm setting or with Escrow accounts a plus

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred

Familiarity with Paylocity or similar payroll systems a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Excel (sorting/filtering, formulas, spreadsheets)

Clear communicator with a proactive, team-oriented attitude
