Applied AI Engineer (Machine Learning and LLM)

ASTRO is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to build the intelligence layer for its connected labs. The role develops machine-learning models for manufacturing and test data, LLM tools for searching technical information, model evaluations, and local model deployments.

Responsibilities

• Build first models on lab data, such as anomaly detection and image-based defect detection
• Build LLM tools that search technical documents and data records and return answers with references
• Set up evaluation tests so we know when a model is right, wrong or uncertain
• Run open-weight models on local hardware
• Help prototype how models learn across sites without moving raw data
