About this role
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Jerez Law, PLLC | Las Vegas, Nevada
Compensation: $160,000–$200,000 annually, plus performance-based bonuses
Employment Type: Full-Time, Executive Leadership
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada (flexibility for exceptional candidates who can maintain a regular in-person presence)
Jerez Law is a growing, results-driven personal injury law firm headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are entering an exciting new chapter of development, with a vision to build an exceptional, highly scalable legal organization capable of expanding into multiple markets.
We believe that extraordinary organizations are built through exceptional leadership, operational discipline, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer who is more than an administrator or office manager. We are looking for a proven executive operator and business builder.
This individual will work directly with the founder and CEO to develop the infrastructure, leadership team, financial discipline, and operational systems necessary to support substantial long-term growth.
Our goal is to build an organization that operates exceptionally well without depending on the founder's daily involvement.
The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious executive to help shape the future of a growing professional services organization.
The COO will have genuine executive authority and accountability for the firm's non-legal business operations.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the business, identify opportunities, solve difficult problems, develop leaders, and translate an ambitious vision into measurable execution.
The right candidate will not simply maintain existing operations. They will build the systems and leadership capabilities necessary to support an organization many times its current size.
We want someone who has the confidence, experience, and judgment to challenge the CEO when necessary. We value thoughtful disagreement, direct communication, and leaders who take responsibility for results.
- Base salary: $160,000–$200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Bonuses: Meaningful performance-based bonus opportunities tied to agreed-upon business outcomes, operational performance, profitability, leadership development, and organizational independence.
- Opportunity to help build and lead a substantially larger organization.
- Direct partnership with the founder and CEO.
- Significant executive responsibility and influence over the firm's future.
We are open to considering exceptional candidates outside Nevada who can establish a meaningful and consistent in-person presence in Las Vegas.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief written response addressing the following:
- Describe an organization you helped scale, transform, or significantly improve. What was its approximate size, what changes did you implement, and what measurable results did you achieve?
- Tell us about a time you helped a founder or CEO become less involved in daily operations. What specifically changed?
- Describe a situation where you disagreed with a founder, CEO, or business owner. How did you approach the disagreement, and what was the outcome?
Compensation:
$160,000 - $200,000 yearly
Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities: Executive Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead and oversee the firm's non-legal business operations.
- Establish clear accountability across departments and management personnel.
- Develop and execute annual, quarterly, and weekly operational priorities.
- Build a leadership structure that functions effectively without constant CEO involvement.
- Identify operational weaknesses and implement sustainable solutions.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and hold management personnel accountable.
Financial Performance & Business Management
- Oversee operational budgets, financial reporting, and business performance.
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards and key performance indicators.
- Improve operational efficiency, profitability, and resource allocation.
- Partner with the CEO on financial planning, forecasting, and strategic investments.
- Establish financial accountability across departments.
Systems, Processes & Scalability
- Develop standardized operating procedures and measurable performance expectations.
- Identify opportunities to improve operations through technology, automation, and artificial intelligence.
- Build scalable systems capable of supporting additional offices and geographic markets.
- Improve communication, execution, and coordination between departments.
- Ensure organizational growth does not compromise quality, accountability, or the client experience.
Leadership Development & Organizational Accountability
- Build and develop a high-performing management team.
- Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Make difficult personnel and operational decisions when necessary.
- Create an organization where department leaders solve problems rather than routinely escalating them to the CEO.
- Establish a predictable operating rhythm with weekly scorecards, quarterly objectives, and measurable results.
Authority & Decision-Making
This position carries genuine executive responsibility and defined decision-making authority.
- The COO will have authority over non-legal operations, operational budgets, administrative personnel, and business systems, within agreed-upon financial and organizational parameters.
- The CEO will establish strategic direction and retain oversight of major organizational decisions.
- Legal judgment, legal strategy, professional responsibility, and supervision of attorneys and legal work will remain with licensed attorney leadership.
- The COO will collaborate closely with attorney leadership to ensure operational excellence while maintaining appropriate professional and ethical boundaries.
We are not looking for someone who needs permission to solve every problem. We are looking for someone who takes ownership and delivers results.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 12 months, the successful COO will have:
- Significantly reduced the founder's involvement in daily operational and employee-management decisions.
- Established a predictable, data-driven operating rhythm across the organization.
- Developed department leaders who independently manage their responsibilities and performance.
- Implemented reliable executive scorecards and financial reporting.
- Improved operational efficiency, accountability, and profitability.
