Job description
About this role
Overview Come join the GBSG Mid-Market Intelligence team as a Software Engineer 2. Mid-Market is one of the fastest growing segments of the business, and the Intelligence team sits at the heart of our mission to build the industry's truly AI-native ERP — where agents, automation, and seamless AI-to-human collaboration are designed in from the ground up, not bolted on.
You will help build the intelligence layer that powers AI-native product experiences, leveraging state-of-the-art AI and agentic technology to change how mid-market businesses run their operations.
Responsibilities
- Successful delivery of high-quality software for the Mid-Market intelligence platform — requirements, design, code, tests, and documentation — spanning services, data pipelines, and AI-native workflows.
- Roughly 80-95% hands-on coding, leveraging AI-driven development tools and agents as a core part of your craft, and validating AI-generated output to the same standard as peer code.
- Build features of AI-native product experiences — agentic workflows, retrieval (RAG) pipelines, tool and function-calling integrations, and human-in-the-loop patterns — with guidance from senior engineers.
- Contribute to early quality activities, including peer reviews of estimates, designs, and code — and to the evaluation of AI-powered features through automated tests, offline evals, and golden datasets.
- Resolve defects/bugs during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release patches, using logs, metrics, and traces to investigate issues.
- Monitor your features after launch, using instrumentation and customer signals to confirm they deliver the expected outcomes.
- Partner effectively with all team members to deliver against commitments.
- Work cross-functionally with various Intuit teams: product management, design, AI scientists, platform teams, and other business units to drive forward results.
- Commitment to team success and positive team dynamics.
- Passion for growing and applying technical and AI skills in service to customers — in a landscape that evolves month to month.
- Experience with Agile Development and SCRUM methodologies.
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience developing software applications or services.
- Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and their practical application.
Strong coding skills in one or more object-oriented languages
- Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Hands-on exposure to Generative AI — e.g., building with LLM APIs, prompt and context engineering, RAG/retrieval, or agent frameworks — through work, internships, or substantial personal projects.
- Production experience is a plus, genuine fluency and curiosity are required.
- Proficiency using AI-assisted development tools (coding agents and assistants) as part of your daily workflow, with the judgment to verify what they produce.
- An understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience with web services (REST/JSON) and API integrations.
- An understanding of unit testing and Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Working knowledge of SQL and data fundamentals; exposure to data processing tools (e.g., Spark, Kafka) is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and modern CI/CD practices is a plus.
- "Self-starter" attitude and ability to make decisions independently.
- Helpful, can-do attitude and a willingness to take ownership of problems.
- Strong desire to learn and grow.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a history of superb delivery against assigned tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding partnership skills.
- Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach.
- This position may be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards and benefits, in accordance with our applicable plans and programs (see more about our compensation and benefits at Intuit®: Careers | Benefits).
- Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
- To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender.
- The Expected Base Pay Range For This Position Is Mountain View $140,500 - $190,000
