Our client, a leading financial services company, is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a team migrating mainframe code to Java Spring Boot and microservices with an Angular front end. This role is closer to full stack engineering than traditional QA: about 80% coding and 20% testing. You will automate existing manual test processes and write automation test cases from day one.

What You Will Do

  • Write automated test cases in Java and TypeScript, starting on day one
  • Convert existing manual test processes into automated ones
  • Build end-to-end tests with Playwright and BDD scenarios with Cucumber
  • Test Spring Boot microservices and the Angular front end as they are migrated from the mainframe
  • Report test results with Serenity
  • Work in two-week sprints alongside the development team

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation or software development (5 to 7 years is the target, and there is no upper limit for a strong candidate)
  • Hands-on programming skills in Java and TypeScript (any recent Java version is fine)
  • Experience with Playwright and Cucumber
  • A background as a Java developer who moved into test automation, or as a QA engineer who has also worked as a developer
  • Financial services experience is not required

Nice to have

  • Serenity (a working understanding is enough)
  • Angular (any recent version)
  • Spring Boot
  • Microservices
