IT Project Manager (hybrid)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead our project delivery team and drive client satisfaction. In this role, you will take full ownership of our project pipeline—from initial scoping to final sign-off—while directly managing and mentoring a Project Coordinator.

Operating in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment, you will balance high-level strategic planning, client communication, and resource allocation. You will leverage the Project Coordinator to handle administrative tracking, meeting scheduling, and documentation, allowing you to focus on scoping complex deployments, mitigating project risks, and maintaining high gross margins.

While a majority of work can be performed remotely, occasional client visits for onsite management and collaboration during high impact project phases may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Delegation: Oversee, mentor, and direct a Project Coordinator. Delegate administrative duties, timeline tracking, and client follow-ups effectively to maximize project delivery efficiency.
• Scoping & Proposal Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and engineering teams to scope new client projects, estimate engineering hours, and validate Statement of Works (SOW) as the base for building project templates.
• Resource Optimization: Strategically allocate engineering resources in partnership with the Director of Delivery, ensuring project deadlines are met without compromising Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Stakeholder Management: Serve as the escalation point and primary relationship manager for clients during major implementations. Translate complex technical milestones into clear, business-focused progress updates.
• Financial & Scope Accountability: Monitor project profitability, track engineering hours, and strictly manage change orders to prevent scope creep.
• Process Standardization: Establish and refine MSP project deployment templates, onboarding checklists, and documentation standards to scale our delivery capabilities.
• Project Coordination and Communication: Design projects within PSA. Lead internal and client facing communication and meetings. Share weekly and monthly reporting metrics utilizing project tools such as Excel, Microsoft Project, OneDrive, Microsoft Co-Pilot, and PSA reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

• MSP Background: Minimum of 3–5 years of project management experience preferably within an MSP or multi-tenant IT environment.
• Leadership Experience: Proven capability to manage, mentor, or delegate to junior staff members.
• Technical Breadth: Strong conceptual knowledge of standard MSP deployments, including Microsoft 365/Azure migrations, network infrastructure overhauls (firewalls/switches), and cybersecurity stack implementations.
• PSA Tool Expertise: High proficiency using MSP-centric PSA software (such as ConnectWise or Autotask) to track project phases, time entries, and resource utilization.
• High-Level Organization: Ability to oversee a portfolio of 30-40 small-to-medium IT projects at various stages of the lifecycle.

Qualifications & Certifications

• PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent formal PM certification is highly preferred.
• Strong background in structured methodologies (Waterfall, Agile) adapted for rapid, multi-tenant MSP deployments.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
