Staff Accountant

Delray Beach, FL | Onsite | Full-Time A well-established, growing company in South Florida is seeking a Senior Lease Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of lease accounting activities within a sophisticated, asset-intensive organization.

The Senior Lease Accountant will play a key role in managing lease-related accounting, supporting monthly and quarterly close processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, experience with lease accounting standards, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across finance, accounting, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842 and applicable US GAAP requirements.
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to lease transactions.
• Maintain accurate lease accounting records, including right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, amortization, and related expenses.
• Review new lease agreements, amendments, renewals, and terminations to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of lease-related general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements, lease-related disclosures, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with real estate, operations, legal, and finance teams to ensure lease information is accurately captured and reflected in financial records.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and other requested documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve lease accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including lease accounting or related corporate accounting responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, particularly ASC 842 lease accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ability to interpret lease agreements and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
• Experience with a major ERP system; NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Experience with lease accounting software or lease management systems.
• Experience managing a large portfolio of leases or complex lease arrangements.
• Background in real estate, infrastructure, telecommunications, or another asset-intensive industry.
• Public accounting experience combined with corporate accounting experience.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and financial reporting.
