About this role
Role: Data Analyst – Data & AI Salary: $200,000 Base + Discretionary Bonus!
Location
New York Working Style: Hybrid A well-established financial services trading firm in New York is expanding its data function and is looking for a Data Analyst who enjoys getting stuck into problems where the data is rarely neat, complete or ready to use. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics and applied AI . This isn’t a role focused purely on producing reports or dashboards.
You’ll be close to the underlying data — figuring out where it comes from, whether it can be trusted, how it should be structured and what can be automated.
You could find yourself
Working with Python and SQL to transform and interrogate large datasets. Helping build and maintain processes that move data from external sources into internal systems. Finding inconsistencies that aren’t immediately obvious and working backwards to understand why they occurred.
Designing checks that catch bad or unexpected data before it reaches downstream users. Experimenting with LLMs and machine learning to extract useful information from documents and other unstructured sources. Building small prototypes, testing different approaches and measuring whether they actually work.
Helping turn successful AI experiments into dependable production processes. Bringing new datasets into the business by understanding their structure, mapping fields and working through integration requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Economics or another quantitative discipline.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, whether developed professionally, academically or through substantial personal projects.
- Experience working with data that requires more than straightforward analysis — particularly large, inconsistent or imperfect datasets .
- Hands-on exposure to machine learning, NLP or LLMs .
- Experience using LLMs for practical tasks such as classification, extraction, summarisation or document processing .
