About this role

SENIOR SALES MANAGER, CORPORATE

Hotel Covington & Madison Event Center | Covington, Kentucky

Full-Time | In-Office, Monday–Friday

Hotel Covington and The Madison Event Center bring together distinctive hospitality, versatile event spaces, and exceptional service in the heart of downtown Covington, Kentucky. We’re proud of the experiences we create, the relationships we build, and the reputation we’ve earned. Now we’re looking for a proven sales professional who is excited to help us grow.

We want a hunter. Someone who thrives on the challenge of winning new business, can turn a cold introduction into a lasting relationship, and has the sales results to prove it. You’re confident initiating conversations, persistent in your follow-up, and motivated by the opportunity to build something.

You know how to develop a strategy, build your own pipeline, and turn your efforts into measurable revenue.

As Senior Sales Manager, your primary responsibility is to find and win new business across corporate meetings and events, corporate and entertainment group room blocks, and negotiated business travel accounts. You’ll own the sale from first outreach through signed contract and grow the accounts you win through repeat bookings, renewals, and referrals.

This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports. You’ll work alongside sales peers who focus on wedding events and partner with an Event Details & Rooms Coordinator. Once business is contracted, you’ll introduce the client to the Coordinator, who will handle event planning and room block details and build on the relationship you started.

You’ll stay connected at the account level while continuing to develop new business.

Success in This Role

  • Generate new business. Create your own opportunities through prospecting, networking, and referrals. Build a strong pipeline and consistently turn prospects into booked revenue.
  • Deliver results. Meet or exceed revenue goals, know which efforts are producing results, and adjust your sales strategy accordingly.
  • Build lasting relationships. Earn the trust of decision-makers, develop connections throughout the market, and turn new clients into repeat clients and referral partners.
  • Set clients and teammates up for success. Make a personal introduction at handoff and communicate what you promised and what matters most to the client.
  • Contribute to the team. Share ideas, take initiative, solve problems, and work collaboratively across both properties.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify target accounts and generate new opportunities through direct outreach, sales calls, networking, industry events, and referrals.
  • Pursue corporate meetings, conferences, events, and group room blocks by building relationships with companies, associations, and meeting planners.
  • Develop entertainment group room business by building relationships with tour managers, production companies, promoters, venues, and booking partners.
  • Identify companies with recurring lodging needs, secure negotiated business travel agreements, and manage those accounts. Track room-night production, pursue renewals, and look for opportunities to grow each account.
  • Lead discovery conversations and property tours, develop tailored proposals, negotiate terms, prepare accurate contracts, and close business.
  • Manage your pipeline, follow up consistently, and respond promptly to incoming inquiries while maintaining a steady pace of outbound prospecting.
  • Introduce contracted clients to the Event Details & Rooms Coordinator and share the commitments, priorities, and context the Coordinator needs to carry the relationship forward.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, booked revenue, and account production. Keep forecasts current and use results to guide your prospecting and account strategy.

Requirements

  • A proven track record of personally generating and closing new business, meeting or exceeding sales goals, and delivering measurable revenue results.
  • Experience developing a sales strategy, building a pipeline from scratch, and managing opportunities from first contact through signed contract.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills, with the confidence to connect with decision-makers, earn trust, and ask for the business.
  • Experience in corporate sales, business development, hospitality, events, or another sales environment. Experience selling group rooms, developing negotiated business travel accounts, or working with entertainment clients is preferred.
  • Ability to manage an account portfolio, track performance, and identify opportunities for repeat business and growth.
  • Strong organization and follow-through, with the ability to balance prospecting, active deals, and account commitments.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to exceptional service for clients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365; experience with Caterease, Social Tables, or StayNTouch is a plus.
  • Availability to work full-time, on-site Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends for networking, client meetings, and business needs.
