RF Engineer
About this role
Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
RF Engineer
to join a growing technology organisation developing high-performance RF and microwave systems for advanced communications applications.
You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team working across the development of RF/microwave transceiver systems, from antenna interfaces through to modem connectivity. The role covers design, simulation, prototype development, testing and qualification, with a strong hands-on element in the laboratory.
The ideal candidate will have strong RF/microwave knowledge, particularly across Ku and Ka-band systems, alongside practical experience working with RF test equipment and developing automated test solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and simulate RF front-end systems, working with system, modem/DSP and ASIC engineers to define hardware and software functions.
- Support schematic design, RF circuit development and validation, including the design and testing of microwave circuits, boards and production hardware.
- Evaluate components and prototypes, characterise RF performance and support the development and qualification of new RF/microwave systems.
- Develop automated RF test solutions using Python, including test scripts and laboratory measurement setups.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to support production testing and implementation of RF components and systems.
- Develop test plans, procedures and technical documentation to support prototype development and product qualification.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A Master’s degree in an engineering discipline with an emphasis on RF/microwave circuits or electromagnetic theory.
- 3+ years' experience testing and characterising microwave circuits, ideally including power amplifiers, PLLs, LNAs, mixers or filters.
- Experience designing linear and non-linear RF/microwave circuits.
- Experience using RF design and simulation tools such as ADS, HFSS or similar.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro/Capture or Altium.
- Strong practical experience using RF test equipment including spectrum analysers, vector signal analysers/generators and network analysers.
- Experience characterising radio performance at microwave frequencies.
- Knowledge of digital communications, including modulation techniques such as QPSK, APSK and QAM.
Desirable Experience
- Python or MATLAB for RF modelling, analysis and test automation.
- Experience working at Ku and Ka-band frequencies.
- Understanding of digital communication performance, including BER and noise figure.
- Satellite communications experience.
- Knowledge of phased-array technologies.
- Experience working across the full RF development lifecycle, from design and prototyping through to manufacturing.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- Performance-based bonus opportunity.
- Medical, dental and vision insurance.
- 401(k) retirement benefits.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Employee wellbeing and assistance programmes.
