About this role

Registered Nurse (RN) - Direct Primary Care

Hitchcock Family Medicine | Hixson, TN

A Different Approach to Healthcare. A Different Kind of Nursing Opportunity.

At Hitchcock Family Medicine, we believe better healthcare starts with better relationships.

We're an independently owned Direct Primary Care practice dedicated to providing personalized, comprehensive care. As part of Hitchcock Medical Group, our team includes five physicians, dedicated nursing support, and the additional resources of our pharmacy and imaging center. We've grown over the years, but the personal relationships, collaborative atmosphere, and commitment to exceptional care that define us haven't changed.

We're looking for a compassionate, motivated, and clinically skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our established team.

The Role

Imagine practicing nursing in an environment where you know your patients by name, have time to listen to their concerns, and can follow their progress over years rather than individual encounters.

Our nurses are essential clinical partners, not simply people moving patients through appointments.

You'll work closely with an individual physician and their patients while collaborating across the practice to provide seamless, attentive care. You'll have the opportunity to develop lasting patient relationships and take meaningful ownership of your clinical responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Patient assessments, telephone and electronic triage, and clinical follow-up.
  • Managing incoming patient concerns, recognizing urgent needs, and prioritizing care using sound nursing judgment.
  • Phlebotomy, specimen collection, and routine nursing procedures.
  • Patient education, scheduling assistance, and care coordination.
  • Ensuring timely follow-up on patient concerns, test results, and clinical communications.
  • Accurate, timely clinical documentation and communication.
  • Anticipating physician and patient needs and independently managing assigned responsibilities within nursing scope and practice protocols.
  • Supporting daily clinic operations and assisting teammates wherever needed.

Who We're Looking For

Clinical skills matter, but so does the person behind them.

Our best nurses are proactive, dependable, adaptable, and genuinely invested in their patients and teammates. They take ownership of their responsibilities, think critically, communicate thoughtfully, and recognize what needs to be done without waiting to be asked.

We value nurses who follow through, communicate openly, take responsibility for their work, and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.

Our team is collaborative and supportive, and every member is expected to contribute to maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Tennessee RN license or multistate license with Tennessee practice privileges.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Sound nursing judgment, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with technology and electronic health records.
  • Experience with phlebotomy and specimen collection, or demonstrated ability to become proficient quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous experience in primary care, family medicine, emergency medicine, or another setting requiring strong clinical assessment and independent nursing judgment.
  • Pediatric experience.

We value demonstrated clinical competence, initiative, and adaptability over experience in any particular specialty.

Why Join Our Team?

Direct Primary Care offers a different kind of nursing experience.

Instead of focusing on patient volume, our practice emphasizes relationships, continuity, and thoughtful, individualized care.

You'll join an established clinical team with the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and work closely with physicians who value their nurses' clinical judgment and contributions.

We work hard, support one another, and take pride in the care we provide. We believe that excellent nursing requires both clinical competence and genuine personal investment in the people we serve.

We offer competitive compensation and benefits in a professional, collaborative environment where your contributions truly matter.

Interested in Joining Us?

Send your resume and a brief cover letter to [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you.
