About this role

About Exit Mold

-------------------

Exit Mold has been helping property owners recover from environmental and property damage for more than 25 years. Serving the New York metro area and New Jersey, we specialize in mold remediation, water and flood damage restoration, lead removal, fire damage restoration, and environmental services.

Our certified team is committed to providing fast, thorough, and professional service while maintaining the highest standards for safety and regulatory compliance.

About the Role

------------------

Exit Mold is seeking an experienced Senior Field Operations Manager to provide hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and operational support across our restoration and environmental field operations.

This is a senior-level, field-based leadership position responsible for supporting restoration teams, overseeing complex water mitigation projects, providing technical guidance, and ensuring consistent quality, safety, and operational performance.

You will serve as a key technical resource for field employees and subcontractors while working closely with the Director of Operations, Project Managers, Dispatch, and company leadership to ensure projects are properly assessed, documented, coordinated, and executed.

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on restoration experience, strong technical knowledge of water mitigation and structural drying, and a proven ability to lead and develop field teams.

This is not a desk-based management position. We are looking for an experienced restoration leader who is comfortable working in the field, troubleshooting complex losses, coaching employees, and taking ownership of operational challenges.

What You'll Do

------------------

Field Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide daily leadership, technical direction, and operational support to restoration field teams and remediation subcontractors.
  • Coach and mentor field personnel on job assessments, scoping, documentation, safety, quality, and proper restoration practices.
  • Establish clear expectations, communicate priorities, and monitor field performance.
  • Identify training opportunities and provide hands-on instruction to improve technical capabilities and operational consistency.
  • Troubleshoot complex field challenges and provide practical solutions.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and consistent execution across field operations.

Water Mitigation & Restoration Operations

  • Assess residential and commercial water losses and determine appropriate scopes of work, drying strategies, equipment requirements, and project plans.
  • Conduct and review moisture mapping, structural drying plans, and documentation of affected areas and materials.
  • Provide technical guidance on equipment selection, placement, monitoring, and drying progression.
  • Ensure appropriate work orders or contracts are obtained before work begins.
  • Complete or review project surveys, photographs, and 360° DocuSketch documentation.
  • Partner with Project Managers to coordinate job assessments, field execution, quality control, and project completion.
  • Identify potential project complications early and recommend effective solutions.
  • Ensure restoration work follows applicable industry standards, company procedures, and safety requirements.

Environmental Inspections & Compliance

  • Conduct, oversee, and review environmental inspection activities, including dust wipe sampling and paint chip sampling, within the scope of required training and authorization.
  • Ensure environmental samples are properly collected, labeled, documented, and submitted according to company procedures.
  • Operate XRF equipment when required and appropriately trained and authorized.
  • Review inspection findings and communicate appropriate next steps to management and project teams.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
  • Support compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Emergency Response & Technical

Support

  • Respond to urgent or complex restoration situations requiring senior-level technical or supervisory assistance.
  • Support initial emergency assessments, equipment planning, placement, and setup when needed.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with high-priority or technically challenging restoration projects.
  • Help ensure emergency response equipment and necessary supplies are available and properly maintained.
  • Assist field teams in resolving unexpected job-site conditions and operational challenges.
  • Participate in after-hours or on-call emergency response as required.

Operational Improvement & Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to establish daily priorities and allocate field support effectively.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Dispatch, field supervisors, and company leadership to improve communication and project coordination.
  • Identify opportunities to improve field processes, documentation, safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Help implement operational standards, training initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Support special projects, acquisitions, and other company-wide operational initiatives.
  • Promote consistent service quality and customer satisfaction across restoration and environmental projects.

What We're Looking For

--------------------------

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience in the restoration industry, particularly water mitigation and structural drying.
  • Demonstrated field leadership experience, including supervising, coaching, training, or managing restoration technicians and/or subcontractors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water damage assessment, moisture mapping, structural drying principles, and restoration equipment.
  • Experience developing scopes of work and supporting complex restoration projects from assessment through completion.
  • Ability to independently evaluate challenging job conditions and provide effective technical solutions.
  • Experience reviewing project documentation and ensuring work meets established quality and safety standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive field needs.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, technicians, subcontractors, customers, and operational leadership.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel regularly between job sites and company locations.
  • Availability for on-call, after-hours, and emergency field response as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IICRC certifications, particularly Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) and Applied Structural Drying (ASD).
  • IICRC Master Water Restorer certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience with mold remediation, environmental services, lead remediation, or environmental inspections.
  • Experience conducting dust wipe sampling, paint chip sampling, or operating XRF equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training.
  • Experience training employees on job-site safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with DocuSketch or comparable restoration documentation platforms.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

-----------------------------------------------

You may be a great fit if you are someone who:

  • Has extensive restoration experience and is the person others turn to when a project becomes complicated.
  • Enjoys being in the field and leading by example rather than managing exclusively from an office.
  • Can confidently assess complex water losses and determine the appropriate restoration approach.
  • Understands structural drying, moisture mapping, equipment selection, and proper job documentation.
  • Takes pride in developing technicians and helping teams improve their skills.
  • Can balance multiple projects and respond quickly when emergencies arise.
  • Communicates effectively with field employees, Project Managers, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Maintains high standards for safety, quality, accountability, and customer service.
  • Identifies operational inefficiencies and takes initiative to improve processes.
  • Is comfortable making decisions independently while collaborating with company leadership.

This is a primarily field-based leadership position requiring regular travel throughout the New York metro area and surrounding service locations.

The role involves visiting residential and commercial properties, active restoration projects, environmental inspection sites, and company facilities.

Physical requirements may include:

  • Working indoors and outdoors in varying job-site conditions.
  • Walking on uneven surfaces and navigating active restoration environments.
  • Climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, and accessing affected areas as needed.
  • Occasionally lifting or carrying restoration equipment and materials consistent with job requirements.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection when properly trained and authorized.
  • Responding to urgent or after-hours field situations when required.

Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.
