About this role
Job Overview
We are a psychiatric and mental health practice in Las Vegas, Nevada, looking for a Family Nurse Practitioner to join our team one to two days per week at our Southwest location. This is a part time, 1099 independent contractor position. In-person work at our Southwest office is required.
You will provide primary care services to our existing psychiatric patient population, including acute sick visits, chronic disease management for conditions like hypertension and diabetes, medication checks, and pre-op clearances. Most visits happen in-person, with tele-health support available for established patients when needed.
This role fits well if you are a new grad building clinical hours in a supportive, collaborative environment, or an experienced FNP who wants a part time role alongside your current practice. Our ideal candidate works well within a team setting and communicates closely with our psychiatric providers on shared patients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive primary care evaluations for patients currently enrolled in psychiatric treatment
- Manage chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, thyroid disorders, and obesity
- Review and reconcile medications across psychiatric and primary care prescriptions to identify interactions or contraindications
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests relevant to primary care and medication monitoring
- Monitor metabolic side effects associated with psychiatric medications, including weight gain, glucose dysregulation, and lipid changes
- Complete medical clearances for patients starting new psychiatric medications or preparing for procedures
- Assess and treat acute and subacute illness, including infections, respiratory complaints, GI issues, and musculoskeletal complaints
- Coordinate care with the psychiatric team to keep medical and mental health treatment plans aligned
- Communicate with outside specialists, primary care providers, and pharmacies as needed
- Document all encounters accurately and in compliance with HIPAA and Nevada state regulations
- Conduct telehealth visits for established patients through our secure virtual platform
- Screen for and address common comorbidities frequently seen in psychiatric populations, including sleep disorders, chronic pain, and metabolic syndrome
- Assist with prior authorizations for medications requiring medical necessity documentation
- Provide patient education on chronic disease management, medication adherence, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Participate in brief care team huddles to flag medically complex patients and coordinate follow-up
