About this role
HB NEXT is a growing, private equity-backed professional services company headquartered in Lawrenceville, Georgia. We are expanding through both organic growth and acquisitions, which keeps the work fast-paced and gives our team exposure to integrating new businesses. Our accounting team is small and hands-on, which means you’ll see the full picture of how a company’s books come together and have real room to learn and grow.
This is an in-office position.
About the Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to own accounts payable and support month-end close, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations. You’ll work directly with the Accounting Manager, CFO, and other senior leadership and get exposure to a wide range of work, from accounts payable, journal entries, and account reconciliations to fixed assets, payroll accounting, and cash reporting.
This is a great fit for an early-career accountant who wants to build a strong foundation and grow into a Staff or Senior Accountant role.
What You’ll Do* Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and recurring monthly entries, in Sage Intacct
- Process and code vendor invoices in Bill.com
- Prepare weekly AP payment runs and maintain the AP aging, following up with vendors and internal approvers on open items
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve billing discrepancies, and keep vendor records and W-9s up to date
- Review employee expense reports and credit card transactions for proper coding and receipt support
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including bank, credit card, undeposited funds, and prepaid accounts, and research and resolve reconciling items
- Support month-end close by completing assigned close tasks accurately and on schedule
- Maintain the fixed asset schedule, including recording additions and supporting the monthly depreciation entry
- Assist with payroll GL entries and allocations, and help build import files for Sage Intacct
- Assist with audit, tax, and private equity reporting requests by pulling and organizing supporting documentation
- Identify opportunities to clean up, document, and improve accounting processes
- Support ad hoc projects as needed
What We’re Looking For* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 0–2 years of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of debits and credits, accruals, and the basic financial statements
- Working knowledge of Excel, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF, and pivot tables
- Strong attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work
- Good organization and the ability to manage multiple deadlines during close
- Clear communication and a willingness to ask questions and learn
Nice to Have* Experience with Sage Intacct or another cloud ERP
- Exposure to Bill.com, Expensify, ADP, or similar AP, expense, and payroll tools
What We Offer* Competitive salary
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) / retirement plan
- Paid time off and holidays
- One remote day per week after the training period
- Hands-on training from the Accounting Manager and direct exposure to the CFO and senior leadership
- Broad exposure to the full accounting cycle and a clear path to growth
- Exposure to accounting and reporting for a private equity-backed company, including acquisitions and integrations
