About the Role

**Hawaii Shoulder \& Orthopedic Institute (HISOI)** is seeking a caring, motivated, and clinically skilled **Occupational Therapist** to join our growing orthopedic therapy team in Hilo, Hawaiʻi.

In this role, you will work closely with orthopedic surgeons and rehabilitation professionals to help patients regain function following shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and upper\-extremity injuries or surgeries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluations, treatment planning, and evidence\-based post\-operative rehabilitation.
  • Deliver ADL retraining (dressing, bathing, grooming, driving, household tasks) and return\-to\-work care.
  • Fabricate custom splints/orthotics and manage post\-surgical upper\-extremity protocols.
  • Support workers’ compensation cases and functional progress tracking.
  • Collaborate directly with orthopedic surgeons and the multidisciplinary clinical team.

Required Qualifications

  • **License:** Active Hawaiʻi Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility with active license prior to start date).
  • **Education:** Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • **Certifications:** Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • **Skills:** Strong patient engagement, timely documentation, and clear interdisciplinary communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in outpatient orthopedics, upper\-extremity care, sports medicine, or post\-operative therapy.
  • Experience with custom splinting, workers’ compensation protocols, or hand therapy.
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential is a plus (not required).
