Job Description
We are seeking a Gas Turbine Control Software Engineer responsible for the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of control software for gas turbine systems. The role will work closely with controls, electrical, mechanical, and field engineering teams to develop and validate turbine control solutions used in power generation and industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain gas turbine control software and control logic.
- Develop turbine control functions for startup, shutdown, speed/load control, fuel control, protection, trips, and operating sequences.
- Translate SAMA diagrams, P&IDs, process narratives, and control requirements into DCS control blocks, logic, and HMI screens.
- Develop and troubleshoot control logic for turbine auxiliary systems, including fuel systems, lube oil, control oil, hydraulic systems, turning gear, cooling systems, and related equipment.
- Develop and implement HMI/SCADA displays, alarms, interlocks, permissives, and operator controls.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) using simulation or closed-loop simulation environments.
- Perform software testing, debugging, validation, and integration of turbine control systems.
- Support commissioning, startup, field troubleshooting, and system optimization at customer sites.
- Analyze control-system issues and perform root-cause analysis to identify and implement corrective solutions.
- Work with controls and electrical engineers to integrate PLC/DCS, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves, and protection systems.
- Review technical specifications, control narratives, functional requirements, drawings, and customer documentation.
- Support customer demonstrations, technical reviews, FAT activities, commissioning, and operator/field-engineer training.
- Develop and maintain software documentation, test procedures, configuration documentation, and engineering records.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, customers, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience developing or supporting gas turbine control systems, turbine controls, turbomachinery controls, or industrial control systems.
- Strong understanding of control theory, control logic, industrial automation, and turbine operation.
- Experience with DCS, PLC, HMI, or SCADA control systems.
- Experience interpreting SAMA diagrams, P&IDs, control narratives, and functional specifications.
- Experience with software development, control logic development, testing, debugging, or system integration.
- Experience with FAT, simulation, commissioning, startup, or field troubleshooting of control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
