Senior Accountant

$75,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience

Gurtler Industries is hiring a Senior Accountant to handle general ledger accounting and own assigned areas of the month-end close. You’ll prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and help turn the close into accurate financial reports. You’ll work directly with our Controller and have a say in how we improve the accounting process.

What You’ll Do

• Calculate and prepare journal entries, including accruals, and maintain supporting schedules.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve open items.
• Complete assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
• Prepare financial reports and explain variances to the Controller.
• Support audits, budgeting, and sales tax compliance, and help improve accounting processes and controls.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience preparing month-end journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and supporting financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience using an ERP system.

Manufacturing or distribution accounting experience is preferred. We welcome candidates from other industries who can show what they personally owned during the close. We value teammates who raise issues early, share what they know, and follow through when something doesn’t tie out.
