Accounts Payable Accountant

Job Summary

As an Accounts Payable Accountant, you’ll keep financial operations moving by processing invoices, maintaining accurate records, and supporting timely account reconciliation. You’ll work with accounting systems and financial software while handling confidential information with care.

Duties

• Review, code, enter, and process invoices; verify approvals and supporting documentation.
• Record debits and credits, prepare journal entries, and support general ledger accounting and reconciliation.
• Reconcile vendor statements and accounts payable balances; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Use spreadsheets and accounting software for data entry, Excel formulas, VLOOKUP, and Excel data analysis.
• Follow generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), financial compliance requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls; support accounts payable automation.

Qualifications

• Required: Accounting and finance experience, accounts payable knowledge, bookkeeping skills, double-entry bookkeeping, and understanding of financial concepts.
• Required: Strong analysis skills, attention to detail, Microsoft Office and spreadsheet skills, and responsible confidential information handling.
• Preferred: Experience with accounting systems or financial software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Workday, or PeopleSoft.
• Preferred: Familiarity with human resources information systems (HRIS) or payroll platforms such as ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian.
• Additional experience in public, corporate, nonprofit, or governmental accounting; accounts receivable, payroll, benefits administration, tax, general ledger, or technical accounting is useful.

Pay: $28.74 - $34.61 per hour
