Senior UX Designer / Researcher

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer / Researcher to lead user-centered design and research initiatives for enterprise digital products and applications. This role will be responsible for understanding user needs, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, translating insights into actionable design recommendations, and creating intuitive, accessible, and scalable user experiences.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the full UX lifecycle—from user research and discovery through information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, usability testing, and final design delivery .

The Senior UX Designer / Researcher will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Engineers, and business stakeholders to solve complex problems and deliver experiences that meet both user and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

UX Research

  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to understand user behaviors, needs, goals, and pain points.
  • Develop research plans, interview guides, surveys, usability testing protocols, and other research artifacts.
  • Conduct user interviews, contextual inquiries, usability studies, focus groups, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Analyze research findings and identify patterns, themes, opportunities, and pain points.
  • Translate research findings into actionable UX recommendations and product requirements.
  • Develop personas, journey maps, empathy maps, service blueprints, and other research-based artifacts.
  • In this role, 50% of the time will be spent doing UX design and 50% of the time will be spent doing UX research
  • The client is using Lucid and Figma
  • Any experience or exposure to Journey Track is a big plus but not required
  • Partner with Product and Business teams to identify and validate problems before significant development investment.
  • Conduct usability testing of wireframes, prototypes, and production experiences.
  • Establish research practices and help create a continuous feedback loop with users.

UX / Product Design

  • Lead UX design activities from discovery through implementation.
  • Develop user flows, information architecture, wireframes, interaction models, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Design intuitive and accessible experiences across web, mobile, and enterprise applications.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into simple, user-friendly experiences.
  • Create interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts and validate solutions.
  • Apply established design systems, patterns, and accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with UI/visual designers and developers to ensure design intent is maintained through implementation.
  • Review implemented experiences and identify opportunities for UX improvements.
  • Contribute to and evolve enterprise design systems, reusable components, and UX standards.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate design workshops, discovery sessions, journey-mapping sessions, and ideation activities.
  • Present research findings and design recommendations to technical and executive audiences.
  • Clearly articulate the rationale behind design decisions using research, data, and user feedback.
  • Balance user needs with business objectives, technical constraints, accessibility requirements, and organizational standards.
  • Advocate for user-centered design throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior UX designers and researchers and contribute to UX best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional UX/UI design and/or UX research experience

in complex digital product environments.

  • Strong experience conducting

user research and usability testing

.

  • Proven experience translating research findings into UX and product design decisions.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating

user research, interaction design, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, and final UX solutions

.

  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as

Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure, or similar

.

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design, Design Thinking, and human-computer interaction principles.
  • Experience developing user flows, journey maps, personas, wireframes, prototypes, and usability-testing artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of responsive web and mobile design principles.
  • Experience collaborating with Agile/Scrum development teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Human Factors, Design, Information Science, or related field.
  • Experience working within an

enterprise design system

  • Experience with accessibility standards such as

WCAG and Section 508

.

  • Experience with UX analytics and behavioral data.
  • Experience working with products involving complex workflows, enterprise applications, or data-intensive interfaces.
  • Experience with

Design Thinking, Lean UX, Agile UX, or Service Design

.

  • Experience using tools such as

Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Miro, Dovetail, UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, or similar

.

  • Experience conducting A/B testing or analyzing product analytics.
  • Experience working with AI-enabled or data-driven digital products.
  • Experience mentoring other UX designers or researchers.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a

hands-on senior UX professional who can move comfortably between research and design

. They should be able to talk directly with users, identify meaningful insights, translate those insights into design concepts, prototype solutions, test them with users, and work with engineering teams to bring the final experience to production.

This person should be equally comfortable asking

"What problem are we really trying to solve?"

and then creating the UX solution that addresses it.
