**Position Summary**
GBLS is a 501(C)(3\) non\-profit organization providing free civil legal services and representation to eligible clients in the Greater Boston area who cannot afford private legal representation.
The Information Technology (IT) Manager is responsible for the overall planning, development, implementation, and management of computer, network, and voice systems at Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS). This role ensures that technology systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with the organization’s mission and operational needs.
This is an IT leadership role with hands\-on involvement in IT operational issues — ideal for someone who is equally comfortable presenting a multi\-year technology roadmap to leadership and working alongside their team. The IT Manager will set direction, develop people, and stay close enough to the work to make informed decisions and step in where needed.
GBLS is looking for an IT team leader who is as invested in the people using our technology as in the technology itself, and who understands that building trust with staff is critical for the successful adoption of technology within an organization.
Working closely with GBLS leadership, staff, and the IT Team, the IT Manager will assist in developing and implementing technology strategies that support service delivery, organizational effectiveness, and long\-term planning. This position plays a key leadership role in aligning technology initiatives with GBLS’s programmatic and budgetary priorities.
**Responsibilities**
· Develop and implement long\-term technology strategies aligned with the organization's mission, growth, and budget.
· Develop, implement, and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures in full compliance with applicable laws.
· Ensure that all systems are secure, stable, and responsive to organizational needs and that relevant information, best practices, and innovations are shared with GBLS staff.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with staff across all departments to develop a clear understanding of how staff use technology in their work, including pain points and opportunities for improvement.
· Provide supervision, guidance, and professional development support to the IT team empowering team members through effective delegation and workload prioritization, ensuring the timely resolution of help desk requests, projects, and organizational technology needs.
· Conduct regular team meetings on organization\-wide technology projects, ensuring clear roles, timelines, and communication with other departments, share updates and address emerging challenges.
· Serve as an escalation point for complex or sensitive technology issues that require senior\-level judgment or decision\-making.
· Manage staff schedule and office coverage to ensure consistent technology support.
· Oversee GBLS full lifecycle of hardware, software, and technology services, from planning and procurement through maintenance, renewal, and replacement while evaluating cost\-effective solutions and ensure responsible stewardship of technology resources.
· Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and external partners.
· Partner with GBLS staff to research, recommend, and implement technology solutions, including system enhancements, software development, website improvements, and training initiatives.
· Partner with law organizations, law schools, and peer legal services organizations on technology initiatives, and participates in regional and statewide technology forums and networks.
**Requirements**
· Candidates must have valid Work Authorization to obtain employment in the US. (GBLS cannot provide sponsorship for Work Visa application or E\-Verify).
· Candidates should have at least seven years of experience in IT, including a minimum of three years in a collaborative supervisory or leadership role leading IT teams and adapting to different organizational environments.
· Demonstrated experience supporting non\-technical professional staff directly and communicating technical tradeoffs clearly to leadership and end users.
· Demonstrable experience managing Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory environments, Windows\-based networks, and enterprise endpoint management platforms is required.
· Demonstrated experience managing technology budgets, resources, and multiple
IT projects, including the implementation and adoption of new systems, tools, and processes.
· Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
· Relevant advanced degrees in computer science and technology business management are strongly preferred.
· Prior experience with LegalServer or similar legal case management systems is a strong plus.
Salary is based on experience within the range of $120,000 and $140,000 per year. GBLS offers a generous benefits package including comprehensive health insurance, retirement contribution after 2 years of retention, paid time off, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
