Full Stack Software Engineer - Java

About Us

GL.iNet is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer (Java) to join our growing engineering team in Northern Virginia. In this role, you'll design, develop, and deliver features across our Java backend and web applications, working closely with product and engineering teams to build reliable, high-quality software.

We use AI coding tools as part of our everyday development process. We expect our engineers to use these tools to work more efficiently while taking full responsibility for the quality, security, and maintainability of the code they deliver.

Backend Development & API

Design

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
• Work with relational databases to support application development
• Participate in software design discussions and implementation planning
• Develop and maintain reliable backend functionality as part of full stack features

Frontend & Full Stack Development

• Build user-facing web application features using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
• Own software features from requirements and design through implementation, testing, release, and production follow-up
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle
• Work across frontend and backend systems to deliver complete software features

AI-Assisted Development

• Use AI-assisted development tools for prototyping, refactoring, writing tests, and exploring code
• Carefully review and validate AI-generated code to ensure quality, security, and maintainability
• Apply AI tools effectively while maintaining responsibility for the software delivered
• Help improve team practices, including effective use of AI-assisted development tools

Testing, Deployment & Collaboration

• Write automated tests and deliver software through CI/CD pipelines to cloud-hosted, containerized environments
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
• Collaborate with teammates across different time zones
• Support improvements to software development processes and engineering practices

What We're Looking For:

• 3–6 years of professional software development experience, including full stack development
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, and relational databases
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with a modern front-end framework such as Vue or React
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools, including the ability to evaluate and verify AI-generated code
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and automated testing
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently on well-defined tasks

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud platforms, Docker, or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with messaging or event-driven systems such as Kafka or MQTT
• Experience with networking, IoT, or connected-device products
• Experience building features using LLM APIs

Pay: $115,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
