Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to perform civil and structural engineering design while managing and guiding a team of designers and engineers. The role collaborates with project managers, other disciplines, designers, and clients to deliver high-quality and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Job Description
- Develop and maintain instrument indexes and DCS/PLC I/O lists from P&IDs
- Draft instrument loop diagrams, wiring and termination drawings, and junction box and marshalling cabinet layouts
- Prepare control system architecture and network drawings for DCS, PLC, SIS, and historian systems
- Apply hazardous area classification (Class I Div 1/2, Zones) to device selection and installation details
- Participate in HAZOP/LOPA sessions as scribe or note-taker and track resulting control actions
- Review vendor and integrator submittals; support FAT/SAT, loop checks and commissioning
- Perform field walkdowns and as-built surveys of existing instrumentation in operating units
- Manage drawing revisions, redlines, and MOC documentation to client and company standards
Skills Required
- 4-10 years in instrumentation, controls or design drafting (co-ops and internships count)
- Experience with an EPC, system integrator, DCS vendor, or operating chemical plant.
Technical Knowledge
- Instrumentation: Flow, level, pressure, temperature, and analyzer measurement; control valves and actuators.
- Control Basics: PID, cascade, ratio, and feedforward control; interlocks and permissives.
- Systems & Protocols: DCS, PLC, SIS, HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP.
Software
- AutoCAD and Bluebeam for drawings and markups.
- Microsoft Excel for indexes, I/O lists, and cause-and-effect matrices.
- Exposure to DCS/SIS platforms such as Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, Yokogawa CENTUM, Rockwell, Siemens, or Triconex is a plus.
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Degree or Higher
Additional Requirements
- Site Access: Valid driver’s license; ability to pass a drug screen and obtain a TWIC card and required site safety orientations
- Preferred: Existing TWIC card and basic plant safety training (e.g., OSHA 10)
