About this role

Company Description

Furtual, founded in 2025, integrates technology into pets’ lives to transform how people connect with their furry companions. The company develops innovative solutions that enhance animal welfare and elevate everyday pet–owner interactions. Furtual is privately held and driven by a mission-focused, hands-on approach to improving animals’ lives.

Team members collaborate across disciplines to build products that are both empathetic to animal needs and intuitive for humans to use. More information about Furtual and its products can be found at www.furtual.com.

Role Description

As a UI/UX Designer at Furtual, you will work part-time in a remote capacity, collaborating closely with product and development teams to design digital experiences for pet-focused solutions. You will create user flows, wireframes, and mockups that translate product requirements and research insights into intuitive interfaces for pet owners and related stakeholders.

Your day-to-day tasks will include designing and iterating high-fidelity visual layouts, building interactive prototypes for user testing, and refining designs based on feedback and data. You will partner with front-end developers to ensure design feasibility, maintain consistency across products, and contribute to evolving design systems and guidelines.

This is an equity-based role, offering the opportunity to help shape Furtual’s product vision while sharing in the company’s long-term growth.

Qualifications

  • Strong user experience design skills, including User Experience Design (UED), user flows, and interaction design.
  • Proficiency in visual design and creating mockups, with a solid grasp of layout, color, typography, and design systems.
  • Experience with prototyping tools and methods, including building interactive prototypes for usability testing and stakeholder reviews.
  • Basic to intermediate Front-End Development knowledge (e.g., HTML, CSS, component-based frameworks) to collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
  • Comfort working in a remote, part-time, startup environment, with the ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and respond to feedback efficiently.
  • Familiarity with user research practices such as interviews, usability testing, and translating insights into design decisions.
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design work for digital products, ideally including consumer-facing or pet-related applications.
  • Relevant education or equivalent experience in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or a related field.
  • Interest in animal welfare and technology-driven solutions for improving pet–owner experiences.
