About this role
Jade Summer | Remote, United States | $30/hour | 30 hours/week | W-2 Employee
About Us
Fritzen Publishing is a family-owned U.S. publishing company and the creator of Jade Summer, a bestselling adult coloring book brand. Our books help people relax, reduce stress, and enjoy creativity. Our work reaches customers through Amazon and traditional publishing partners, including Penguin Random House in the U.S.
We are a small, collaborative business where good design, clear communication, and individual judgment matter. You will work directly with the owner and our creative team, help bring books from artwork to finished products, and see the results of your work in customers’ hands.
Why You’ll Enjoy This Opportunity
- Meaningful products: Help create books that bring creativity and relaxation into people’s lives.
- Visible impact: Improve the covers, presentation, and production of an established brand with a large catalog and real customers.
- Ownership: Take responsibility for finished work and help improve how projects move through the business.
- Direct collaboration: Work with decision-makers, artists, and publishing partners in a small team.
- Consistent work: Build an ongoing relationship with predictable weekly hours rather than a series of one-off assignments.
- A focus on design: Our artists provide the illustrations. Your contribution is turning that artwork into polished books and marketing materials.
About the Role
We are hiring one person to combine three connected responsibilities: graphic design, production artwork, and production coordination.
This role suits someone who enjoys both creative work and getting the details right. You might develop a book cover, assemble an interior in InDesign, coordinate publisher revisions, and keep the project’s files and schedule organized.
We will prioritize the work within the available 30 hours each week.
Graphic Designer
- Design polished book covers with strong typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy.
- Create Amazon A+ content, product page images, social media graphics, and other marketing resources.
- Make designs clear and appealing at both full size and small online thumbnail size.
- Collaborate with our artists and art director on feedback and revisions.
- Ensure fonts and other design assets are properly licensed for commercial use.
Production Artist
- Assemble books in Adobe InDesign and prepare organized, editable files for publishing partners.
- Update existing covers, interiors, and front and back matter.
- Follow publisher specifications and prepare print-ready files.
- Check proofs and final files for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
Production Coordinator
- Handle day-to-day publisher communication about files, proofs, revisions, and deadlines, excluding finance.
- Coordinate cover reviews, approvals, and revisions with our team and publishers.
- Maintain project spreadsheets and schedules so everyone knows what to work on and when.
- Keep Dropbox organized, with clearly identified current files.
- Track outstanding requests and follow through so projects keep moving.
How We Use AI
We work with human artists and do not publish AI-generated artwork.
We use tools such as ChatGPT and Claude for brainstorming and administrative work. You should be comfortable using these tools thoughtfully alongside hands-on design and production. For example, you might use AI to help batch rename files to match our naming conventions rather than renaming each file manually.
You remain responsible for checking the results.
What You Bring
- A strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design, typography, layout, and commercial presentation.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and experience preparing publishing or print-production files.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Clear, professional communication and reliable follow-through.
- Comfort coordinating several projects, gathering feedback, and managing revisions.
- An interest in our products and the customers who enjoy them.
Experience with book covers, publishing, Amazon marketing graphics, or consumer products is especially relevant.
