Job Snapshot

Frank Donio, Inc. is seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our Information Technology

department.

This position has broad responsibility for the technology that supports our business, including IT infrastructure, networks and servers,

cloud services, ERP and critical business applications, EDI and integrations, cybersecurity, end-user support, technology vendors, and

IT projects.

We operate with a lean IT team utilizing a combination of internal employees, dedicated contract resources, developers, service

providers, and specialized vendors. The IT Manager will lead and coordinate these resources while remaining technically capable and

willing to work hands-on when necessary.

The ideal candidate will bring the technical foundation, organization, and best practices of a mature IT environment while embracing

the broad responsibility and ownership mentality of a smaller company. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of an

established technology environment while helping us modernize and strengthen the IT function for the future.

What You’ll Do

Lead IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Oversee the reliability, performance, maintenance, and continued development of technology infrastructure across multiple locations.
  • Manage an environment that includes physical and virtual servers, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, Cisco Meraki networking and Wi-Fi, PCs and Macs, mobile devices, telecommunications, printers and label-printing systems, security cameras, access control, and related technologies.
  • Oversee end-user support, establish priorities, and ensure technical issues are driven through resolution.
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation resource and provide hands-on technical support when necessary.
  • Strengthen cybersecurity, backup and recovery, business continuity, documentation, and overall IT practices.

Manage Business Systems & Applications

  • Serve as the day-to-day IT owner for critical business applications, including our Produce Pro ERP environment.
  • Manage EDI processes and integrations involving providers such as iTrade, SPS Commerce, Procurant, and other customer platforms.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources supporting custom applications, integrations, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Develop a strong understanding of company operations and evaluate technology changes for their impact across departments, processes, integrations, reporting, and data.
  • Work with users, vendors, and technical resources to translate business needs into effective technology solutions.

Own IT Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage IT projects from approved concept through successful implementation and follow-up.
  • Research solutions, evaluate alternatives, and provide clear recommendations based on business requirements, cost, risk, scalability, and long-term value.
  • Develop project plans and coordinate internal resources, vendors, developers, testing, implementation, and communication.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize systems, automate processes, improve reliability and security, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Provide executive leadership with concise, decision-ready information and recommendations when approval or direction is required.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation, and identify practical opportunities to improve productivity, decision-making, customer service, and business processes. Lead the evaluation, piloting, integration, and implementation of approved solutions.

Lead People, Vendors & IT Planning

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, priorities, accountability, and development for IT employees and dedicated technical resources.
  • Lead experienced technical employees while effectively utilizing their specialized expertise and institutional knowledge.
  • Manage service providers, software vendors, developers, consultants, telecommunications providers, and other technology partners.
  • Hold vendors accountable for service, responsiveness, deliverables, cost, and value.
  • Take the lead in developing the IT budget, technology lifecycle plans, and short-, medium-, and long-term technology recommendations.
  • Work with executive leadership to establish priorities and ensure technology continues to support company operations and growth.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience successfully managing or leading an IT function, team, or significant area of IT responsibility.
  • Strong broad-based technical knowledge across networking, servers, virtualization, cloud services, endpoints, Microsoft environments, cybersecurity, and business applications.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on and serve as a senior technical escalation resource when necessary.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications, ERP systems, integrations, or similar enterprise software.
  • Strong project-management skills with demonstrated ability to take projects from requirements through implementation.
  • Experience managing technical employees, vendors, consultants, or managed-service providers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of modern AI technologies and their practical application in business, with the ability to evaluate use cases, platforms, integration opportunities, risks, and potential value.
  • Ability to understand business processes and consider the company-wide impact of technology decisions.
  • Ability to independently research unfamiliar technologies or problems, evaluate alternatives, and make clear, well supported recommendations.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability - you may not personally have every answer, but you take responsibility for finding the answer and getting the work completed.

Experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Cisco Meraki, ERP systems, EDI/integrations, virtualized infrastructure, or multi location IT environments is beneficial.

Experience in distribution, warehousing, food/produce, manufacturing, or another operationally intensive environment is also beneficial but not required.

This position is based on-site in Hammonton, NJ, with occasional travel to company locations in California and Arizona. While the

standard schedule is primarily Monday through Friday during normal business hours, company operations extend beyond those hours. Limited after-hours availability is required for critical issues and planned technology work.
