QA Tester – Loyalty Systems
Location:
Chicago, IL – Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

What You’ll Do
- Review business requirements, use cases, and functional specifications to understand testing scope and expected outcomes
- Create detailed
test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios
- Execute manual functional, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing
- Validate development deliverables against business requirements and expected functionality
- Test complex
loyalty program functionality
, including:
- Points accumulation and redemption
- Loyalty tiers
- Program rules
- Rewards and milestone-based awards
- Multiple batches and transaction processes
- Perform
financial and transaction testing
to validate points, awards, calculations, and overall data integrity
- Verify that transactions are processing correctly and that calculations and business rules are executing as expected
- Identify, document, track, and retest defects through resolution
- Analyze test results and communicate testing progress, results, outstanding issues, and risks
- Partner with business stakeholders to plan and execute
User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Assist with test environment setup and test execution preparation
- Perform smoke testing during production deployments
- Help establish and maintain QA processes, testing standards, and best practices
- Perform API testing using tools such as
Postman or Insomnia
- Work with APIs, databases, and Kafka as part of testing and troubleshooting
- Understand database information and validate data without needing to develop complex SQL queries
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Test Managers, developers, business stakeholders, and other members of the technology team
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on software testing experience
, preferably supporting major application integrations and/or enterprise application releases
- Strong experience with
manual software testing
- Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases, and test scripts
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices
- Experience with functional, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and determine expected versus actual results
- Experience testing
financial transactions, calculations, data integrity, or complex business rules
is highly valued
- Ability to understand and test complex loyalty or rewards program functionality
- Experience with
API testing
and tools such as Postman or Insomnia
- Working knowledge of databases and data validation
- Exposure to
Kafka testing
is a plus
- Experience with
Jira, Confluence, and Zephyr
or similar test management tools
- Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple testing activities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Experience
- Experience testing
loyalty, rewards, points, financial, or transaction-based systems
- Hospitality industry experience
- Experience with enterprise application integrations
- Experience with Zephyr or another test management platform
- Experience with automated testing tools or automation frameworks, although
automation is not the primary focus of this position
- Experience with reporting and ad hoc query tools
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven systems
- Experience with browser/device testing tools such as BrowserStack
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Equivalent extensive experience in enterprise application testing, test planning, and test execution will be considered
