Software Engineer / Architect – EPIC & Healthcare Integrations

Folio3 is looking for hands-on engineers, from Senior Engineer to Architect level, to deliver Epic EHR integrations, clinical workflows, backend services, and AI-enabled healthcare applications.

The role spans healthcare interoperability, backend engineering, clinical workflow automation, and secure production delivery.

Own functionality end to end

Discovery → Solution Design → Development → Integration → Deployment → Support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build backend applications and integration services using Python, Django/FastAPI, .NET, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and REST APIs.
• Develop Epic EHR integrations using FHIR R4, HL7 v2, SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, and Epic Vendor Services.
• Integrate patient demographics, clinical notes, vitals, and other healthcare data; support EHR launch, patient context, and authentication.
• Deliver AI-enabled clinical workflows, including clinical assistants, LLM APIs, structured outputs, and workflow automation.
• Collaborate with clinical, product, and engineering stakeholders to clarify requirements, map workflows, and deliver solutions.
• Support AWS/Azure deployments, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, production troubleshooting, PHI security, and HIPAA-aligned controls.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Core: Python, Django/FastAPI, .NET, TypeScript, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, AWS/Azure, Docker, Git, and CI/CD.
• Healthcare integration: Epic EHR, FHIR R4, HL7 v2, SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, Epic Vendor Services, Epic SSO, and EHR launch.
• AI, security & plus: LLM APIs, workflow orchestration, HIPAA/PHI, RBAC, audit logging. Epic Haiku and Rover experience is a plus.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on healthcare integration experience, ideally with Epic, and the ability to independently own delivery from discovery through production.
• Effective communication with clinical and technical stakeholders is essential.
