Role Summary

The Agentic AI Engineer designs, develops, tests, and supports intelligent automation and AI-powered solutions that help improve business processes, employee experiences, and member outcomes.

This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on building modern automation platforms, AI-enabled applications, workflow orchestration solutions, and emerging agentic AI capabilities. Working alongside Product Owners, Architects, Business Analysts, and fellow engineers, you will transform business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technology solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with curiosity about artificial intelligence and automation. You do not need previous experience building production-grade agents, but you should be excited about the opportunity to learn and contribute to AI-driven solutions that deliver measurable business value.

You enjoy solving complex problems, writing quality code, collaborating with teammates, and continuously expanding your technical capabilities in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Responsibilities

Solution Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation and AI-powered applications.
  • Build integrations between enterprise platforms, APIs, databases, and third-party services.
  • Develop workflow and orchestration solutions that automate business processes.
  • Implement application enhancements, bug fixes, and new capabilities based on business priorities.
  • Participate in solution design discussions and technical planning activities.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented code.

AI & Intelligent Automation

  • Contribute to the development of AI-enabled business solutions.
  • Build and enhance prompt-based, workflow-driven, and agentic experiences.
  • Integrate large language models (LLMs), AI services, and automation platforms into business processes.
  • Assist in evaluating new AI technologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Support the implementation of governance, security, and responsible AI practices.

Delivery & Execution

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Estimate work efforts and deliver committed sprint objectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure requirements are understood and solutions are practical.
  • Help identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support production deployments and operational readiness activities.

Quality & Reliability

  • Develop automated tests and participate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Follow established engineering standards, architecture guidelines, and development practices.
  • Contribute to application monitoring, support, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and operational requirements.

Collaboration & Growth

  • Partner with engineers, analysts, product teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with teammates.
  • Participate in peer reviews and collaborative problem-solving sessions.
  • Continuously develop expertise in software engineering, automation technologies, and artificial intelligence.
  • Contribute positively to team culture and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in software engineering, application development, automation, or related technical fields.
  • Experience developing and supporting production applications.
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams.
  • Experience integrating systems through REST APIs and web services.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based applications and services.
  • Understanding of application testing, debugging, and troubleshooting practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI, machine learning, conversational AI, or generative AI platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with workflow automation technologies.
  • Experience with robotic process automation (RPA) platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Pega, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts.
  • Experience building integrations and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience working in financial services, banking, or highly regulated environments.

Location

Marlborough/Chelmsford, MA or Hillsboro, OR

Target Compensation: $93,000 - $111,500

Schedule:Monday-Friday: 8am-5pm (HYBRID)
