About Us Financially SMART is a fast-growing fractional CFO and outsourced accounting firm that works only with wealth management firms and RIAs. We serve about 35 advisory firms through a pod-based model: each client has a bookkeeper, a senior accountant, and an advisor. We pair that service with FinSights AI, our own financial analytics platform.

We’re a remote team of 13 and growing quickly. We need an Accounting Manager to own the quality, consistency, and timeliness of our accounting work.

The Role

You’ll run the accounting engine behind every client relationship. You’ll lead our senior accountants and offshore bookkeeping team and own month-end close across the portfolio. You’ll build the processes and standards that let us scale without losing quality.

You’ll report to our Director of Finance and work closely with leadership and our client-facing team.

What You’ll Do

• Own month-end close across ~35 client entities, making sure books are accurate, reconciled, and closed on schedule
• Lead, train, and hold accountable US senior accountants and a Philippines-based bookkeeping team
• Review financials, reconciliations, and journal entries before they reach clients or FinSights dashboards
• Standardize charts of accounts and classifications across clients so benchmarking is consistent
• Find and resolve unbudgeted or misclassified activity, and escalate gray-area items
• Build out and maintain recurring workflows and checklists in Financial Cents
• Oversee US-based operational work, including bill pay, payroll processing through Gusto, sales tax, and state and vendor matters
• Lead cleanup and catch-up engagements for new and existing clients
• Support forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting packages prepared by the advisory team
• Spot process gaps and fix them, moving the team from reactive work to proactive work

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years supervising or reviewing others’ work
• Strong command of QuickBooks Online (required)
• Experience managing multi-client close, ideally in public accounting, a CAS practice, or an outsourced accounting firm
• Solid understanding of accrual and cash-basis accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement review
• Experience managing remote or offshore teams is a big plus
• Wealth management, RIA, or financial services industry experience is a strong plus
• Highly organized, detail-driven, and comfortable owning outcomes, not just tasks
• Clear communicator who can coach a team and raise issues early
• CPA or progress toward a CPA is a plus but not required

Compensation: $85,000 – $110,000 per year, based on experience
