We are seeking a Backend Engineer to develop applications and data pipelines supporting an asset management firm's financial operations. This role combines hands-on software engineering with direct business engagement across portfolio analytics, fund performance, accounting, and middle-office operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications supporting investment management and financial operations.
  • Build and enhance backend services and data pipelines using C#/.NET, Python, and modern software frameworks.
  • Develop solutions supporting portfolio analytics, fund performance reporting, accounting, and financial planning.
  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into reliable technical solutions.
  • Optimize existing workflows through application enhancements, automation, and systems integration.
  • Develop and maintain database integrations across SQL Server, Snowflake, and Redis environments.
  • Support testing, code reviews, continuous integration, vulnerability remediation, and production deployments.
  • Collaborate across engineering and business teams to improve application performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on backend software development experience with C#/.NET or Python and associated frameworks such as ASP.NET Core, FastAPI, or SQLAlchemy.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, dependency injection, relational databases, and API development.
  • Experience developing production applications using modern development practices, including source control, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with investment management, financial markets, portfolio analytics, or middle-office financial operations.
  • Exposure to SQL Server, Snowflake, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, or hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent programming experience, with an interest in emerging AI-assisted development tools.
