About this role

Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer — SolidWorks & CNC

Company: Falco Automation Location: Rancho Cordova, CA 95742 — Sacramento area Job Type: Full-time, on-site Pay: 60,000.00-85,000.00 DOE

About Falco Automation

Falco Automation is an international engineering and manufacturing company with three locations across the United States and Europe: Rancho Cordova, California; Austin, Texas; China and Turin, Italy. We design, manufacture, and integrate custom machinery, robotic systems, automated production lines, and industrial equipment for customers across a range of industries.

Our work brings together mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, controls, and robotics. Engineers work closely with the people building and testing the equipment, allowing them to see their designs become working machines.

About the Position

We are looking for an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to join our Sacramento-area facility. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys designing in SolidWorks, working with machinery, and understanding how things are built.

You should bring a working knowledge of SolidWorks and some practical exposure to mechanical design, machining, or CNC programming. You do not need to be an expert in every area listed in this posting. You will work alongside highly experienced engineers, machinists, and automation professionals who will help you develop your skills as you contribute to real projects.

We are investing in someone who wants to grow with Falco. Curiosity, reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to take feedback matter to us. We want someone who asks questions, takes initiative, and enjoys learning through hands-on work.

This position combines mechanical design and engineering with hands-on machining. You will work with CNC mills, lathes, five-axis machining centers, and wire EDM machines, with responsibilities that include CNC programming, setup, and operation as your skills develop.

This is not exclusively a machining position your work will also include designing parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, developing mechanical solutions, and supporting equipment assembly and testing. We are looking for someone with some practical machining experience and an interest in both designing and building.

You do not need to be proficient with every machine or process from day one; you will learn alongside experienced engineers and machinists as we invest in your development.

What You Will

Work On

As your skills develop, your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and updating SolidWorks parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Helping design machine components, fixtures, tooling, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Preparing bills of materials and selecting mechanical components.
  • Creating and editing CNC programs and developing an understanding of toolpaths, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Assisting with CNC machine setup and operation under appropriate guidance.
  • Supporting equipment assembly, prototype builds, testing, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Working with engineers and machinists to improve designs based on how parts are manufactured, assembled, and used.
  • Following shop safety procedures and maintaining clear, accurate documentation.

What We Are Looking For

  • A working knowledge of SolidWorks, including part modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Some hands-on experience with mechanical projects, machinery, tools, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine operation, CNC programming, or CAM software is preferred; proficiency can develop on the job.
  • A basic understanding of mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and how components fit together.
  • An interest in both engineering design and practical shop work.
  • A dependable attitude, clear communication, and the ability to work well with others.
  • A strong desire to learn from experienced professionals and take on greater responsibility over time.

Relevant experience may come from employment, internships, technical training, school projects, or personal builds. Recent graduates and candidates early in their engineering careers are encouraged to apply.

Schedule and Work Environment

This is a full-time position at our Rancho Cordova facility, with time spent both at a workstation and on the shop floor.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to address equipment emergencies or critical project needs. We are looking for someone who can be flexible when these situations arise and is willing to support the team. Compensation and overtime eligibility will follow applicable law.

Benefits and Development

  • Medical insurance: Falco pays 50% of the employee premium.
  • Vision insurance: Employee premium fully paid by Falco.
  • Life insurance.
  • 401(k) with company matching up to 5%.
  • Direct guidance and mentorship from experienced engineers and manufacturing professionals.
  • Practical experience in machine design, CNC machining, robotics, and equipment assembly.
  • Opportunities to take on more advanced work as your skills and experience grow.

How to Apply

Apply through Indeed with your résumé and a short description of your experience with SolidWorks, machining, CNC programming, or hands-on mechanical projects. Examples of drawings, models, parts, or projects you have worked on are welcome.

We are looking for someone eager to build a career in mechanical engineering, and we are ready to invest in the right person.
