About this role
Electrical Engineer – Hardware & Power Electronics King of Prussia, PA | On-Site We are partnering with a global technology company to hire an Electrical Engineer – Hardware & Power Electronics to join a team developing innovative high-power wireless charging systems for electric vehicles.
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer with approximately 2–7 years of hands-on experience designing physical electronic products who wants to deepen their expertise in power electronics. You do not need to be a power electronics specialist or have previous wireless charging experience.
You will work with sophisticated hardware operating at up to 75 kW, 1 kVDC / 480 Vrms and 85 kHz, with mentorship from an experienced senior power electronics engineer as you develop your expertise and take on greater technical ownership.
What You'll Do
- Own electrical circuits and subsystems from requirements and architecture through schematic design, component selection, prototype, testing and verification.
- Design analog and mixed-signal circuitry, including sensing, signal conditioning, drivers, buffers, interfaces and supporting power supplies.
- Contribute to power conversion and resonant power systems, including inverters, rectifiers, DC/DC converters, semiconductor switching stages, gate drives, protection and filtering.
- Use calculations and circuit simulation to guide design decisions before hardware is built.
- Develop schematics and collaborate on PCB design and layout.
- Build, bring up, test and troubleshoot hardware prototypes.
- Investigate switching behavior, thermal performance, grounding, signal integrity and EMI/EMC.
- Participate in design reviews and support manufacturing and engineering changes.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Approximately 2–7 years of professional, hands-on electronic hardware development experience.
- Practical analog circuit-design experience, including schematic capture and component selection.
- Experience working with PCB layout and hardware development.
- Hands-on experience using simulation and bench measurements for hardware bring-up, troubleshooting and validation.
- Working knowledge of digital hardware and microcontroller interfaces.
- A driven, curious and hands-on engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and taking ownership of their work.
Experience in any of the following is a plus
- Power electronics | High-voltage/high-power hardware | Inverters | Rectifiers | DC/DC converters | MOSFETs | IGBTs | SiC FETs | Gate drives | High-frequency PCB design | EMI/EMC | SPICE/PSpice | MATLAB/Simulink | Python | OrCAD | Altium | Linux | CAN bus Direct wireless charging experience is not required.
- The company is looking for strong electrical engineering fundamentals and hands-on hardware design ability, with the opportunity to grow into increasingly complex power-electronics systems.
