About this role
Staff Electrical Engineer, SATCOM Location: Westminster, Colorado Working arrangement: Full-time, on-site Industry: Aerospace, Defence & Advanced Communications US Citizens or Green Card Holders only The Opportunity EVONA is partnering with an innovative aerospace and defence technology company developing next-generation satellite communications (SATCOM) systems for demanding airborne and ground-based applications.
We're looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to take technical ownership of complex electronic hardware, from initial design and architecture through PCB development, testing, qualification and production. This is an opportunity for an experienced, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving challenging hardware problems, leading technical development and helping other engineers deliver reliable, high-performance electronics.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the design and development of complex digital, mixed-signal and power electronic circuit boards for advanced SATCOM systems.
- Own board-level hardware development from architecture and component selection through schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, bring-up and validation.
- Develop high-speed digital hardware incorporating FPGAs, processors, memory, ADCs, DACs and associated interfaces.
- Work closely with PCB layout engineers on multilayer and HDI designs, considering signal integrity, power integrity, grounding and electromagnetic compatibility.
- Perform circuit analysis, design reviews and troubleshooting to ensure robust hardware performance.
- Support environmental qualification, EMI/EMC testing and the transition of designs into production.
- Collaborate with systems, firmware, RF, mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, helping guide design decisions and resolve complex challenges.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally within aerospace, defence or another high-reliability industry.
- Strong hands-on experience designing electronic circuit boards, including schematic development, component selection, hardware bring-up and testing.
- Experience developing complex digital, mixed-signal or power electronics.
- Familiarity with FPGA-based hardware, high-speed interfaces, memory devices and supporting circuitry.
- Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity and multilayer PCB design principles.
- Experience with circuit analysis, hardware verification and qualification testing.
- Ability to lead technical projects, mentor engineers and work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Particularly Interesting Experience We'd be especially interested in hearing from engineers with experience in: Aerospace or defence electronics development.
- High-speed digital boards, HDI PCB design and complex FPGA integration.
- Worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA).
- EMI/EMC testing and environmental qualification.
- Power conversion, point-of-load regulators and power distribution.
- Taking complex electronic hardware from initial design through production.
- You don't need to have worked specifically in SATCOM.
- Strong board-level design experience in aerospace, avionics, RF or power electronics could also be highly relevant.
- Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Work on advanced communications technology supporting aerospace and defence applications.
- Take ownership of technically challenging electronic hardware.
- Join a collaborative engineering team with opportunities to influence design decisions.
- Contribute across the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept through production.
- Interested?
- If you're a hands-on electrical engineer who enjoys designing complex hardware and wants to contribute to the next generation of SATCOM technology, we'd love to hear from you.
- Apply directly or contact Ciara Holmes at EVONA for a confidential conversation.
