This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference through evidence-based practice, collaborative care, and innovative treatment strategies.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate clients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans targeting functional improvements in activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and sensory processing.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to specific conditions such as neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, post-acute care needs, or physical rehabilitation.
  • Assist clients with ADLs including dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting to promote independence.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transitions between inpatient, outpatient, home health, or community settings.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation within electronic health records (EHR), ensuring compliance with medical terminology and healthcare standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physicians, nurses, educators, and social workers—to optimize patient care outcomes.
  • Provide education and support to clients’ families or caregivers on therapy goals and strategies for continued progress at home or school.
  • Support early intervention programs and work with children in pediatric occupational therapy settings or school environments.
  • Engage in evidence-based practice by staying current with the latest research and integrating best practices into therapy sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program; licensure or certification as required by state or country regulations.
  • Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities across various age groups—pediatrics through geriatrics—and diverse conditions such as neurodevelopmental disorders or physical injuries.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical assessment tools relevant to occupational therapy.
  • Experience working with clients on treatment plan development and implementing occupational therapy programs effectively.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) management and clinical documentation standards.
  • Excellent client communication skills coupled with the ability to collaborate within interprofessional teams for holistic patient care.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs, discharge planning, case management, and implementing evidence-based interventions.
  • Prior experience in inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities; outpatient clinics; home health; early intervention; or school-based programs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders support strategies and working with individuals with neurodevelopmental challenges is a plus.
