About this role

Nurse Practitioner — Occupational Health

Location: Facility, Houston Texas

Employment type: Part Time

Schedule: T/TH 9AM-11AM, 12PM-2PM

Clinical team: Onsite EMT, offsite RN Coordinator, Chief Advanced Practice Provider (APP), and Medical Director

Position overview

The Nurse Practitioner provides evaluation, treatment, and follow-up for occupational injuries and illnesses affecting Vallourec employees. This role supports timely care, recovery, and safe return to work while maintaining employee confidentiality and clear clinical documentation.

The Nurse Practitioner works closely with the onsite EMT, offsite RN Coordinator, Chief APP, and Medical Director. Care is delivered within the provider’s licensed role, population focus, demonstrated competencies, and applicable Texas physician-delegation and prescribing requirements.

Essential responsibilities

  • Evaluate employees with occupational injuries and illnesses by obtaining medical histories, performing examinations, establishing diagnoses, and developing treatment and follow-up plans.
  • Order and review diagnostic testing and prescribe medications within applicable Texas authority, physician delegation, and approved clinical protocols.
  • Assess and manage workplace concerns, including musculoskeletal injuries, wounds, burns, heat-related illness, and exposures, within demonstrated competency and established protocols.
  • Recognize conditions requiring emergency evaluation, specialist consultation, or a higher level of care, and arrange timely escalation.
  • Provide clear work-status recommendations, including functional restrictions, anticipated duration, and reassessment plans.
  • Complete and submit the Texas Workers’ Compensation Work Status Report, DWC Form-073, when appropriately delegated and applicable to the employee’s claim, following required reporting timelines.
  • Follow cases through recovery by reassessing symptoms and function, reviewing test results, adjusting treatment plans, and arranging referrals.
  • Coordinate with the RN Coordinator on appointments, follow-up needs, and return-to-work planning.
  • Escalate worsening symptoms, delayed recovery, complex cases, and clinical concerns to the Medical Director or other appropriate provider.
  • Evaluate concerns referred by the onsite EMT or RN Coordinator and provide clear clinical instructions consistent with established protocols, physician delegation, and each team member’s authorized role.
  • Document findings, treatment, work status, disposition, and follow-up promptly in the designated clinical system.
  • Communicate with the employer’s safety team and other authorized stakeholders while protecting employee confidentiality.
  • Participate in program orientation, chart review, required collaboration meetings, and quality-improvement activities.

Required qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the nurse practitioner role and a population focus appropriate to the employees served.
  • Current RN authority to practice in Texas through a Texas RN license or valid multistate RN privilege. A compact RN license alone does not authorize nurse practitioner practice in Texas
  • Current national nurse practitioner certification consistent with the licensed role and population
  • Texas prescriptive authority appropriate to the position’s prescribing duties, with applicable physician delegation and a prescriptive authority agreement in place before prescribing begins.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage adult injuries and illnesses within the provider’s education, experience, and authorized scope.
  • Sound clinical judgment, strong documentation skills, and the ability to recognize when consultation or escalation is needed.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills with employees, clinical colleagues, and employer representatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working in an employer-based clinical setting.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, emergency care, or a comparable adult injury-care setting.
  • Experience managing work-related injuries, follow-up care, functional restrictions, and return-to-work planning.
  • Familiarity with Texas workers’ compensation documentation, including DWC Form-073.
  • Experience collaborating with onsite emergency personnel, remote clinical coordinators, and employer safety teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in procedures relevant to the site’s needs, subject to individual verification and clinical approval.

Pay: $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 8.0 per week
