About this role
Want to help power the next generation of flight, defense, and transportation? At Electric Power Systems (EPS), we design and deliver advanced energy storage systems for aerospace, defense, and other demanding mobility applications, including military applications.
Our mission is to advance, connect, and protect our world through energy innovation, and we're looking for an Aerospace Systems Engineer II to help us do it from our headquarters in North Logan, Utah.
What you'll be doing
As a systems engineer at EPS, you'll be the person who connects the dots. You'll research and develop requirements for aerospace and defense systems that make them more efficient, reliable, and high-performing, then follow those requirements through the full product lifecycle, including validation and verification.
You'll work directly with customers to integrate our battery systems into their vehicles, supporting flight test and data analysis along the way. You'll also write and maintain the documentation that keeps programs moving: system requirements, interface descriptions, block diagrams, schematics, and test protocols.
Staying current on federal aerospace regulations, industry specifications, and safety standards is part of the job.
Day to day, you'll attend technical interchange meetings, report status on your master schedule tasks, review documents, and resolve systems integration issues before they become bigger problems. You may also pitch in on proposal efforts. Since you'll be building relationships with everyone from teammates to senior leaders, regulators, and industry experts, strong communication matters as much as technical chops.
Because this is a level II role, you'll also guide junior engineers, review their work, and help us build a culture of technical excellence. We'd love for you to spot ways to improve our engineering processes, from product development to system integration to manufacturing efficiency.
What we're looking for
- A bachelor's degree in systems, electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering
- 2-4 years of aerospace systems engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with requirements validation and verification and compliance with federal aerospace regulations
- A strong background in hazard, safety, and reliability analysis, including FHA, SSA, and FMECA, plus familiarity with standards like MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461
- Excellent written and verbal communication and a collaborative spirit
Bonus points if you have
You don't need all of these, but they'll help you hit the ground running. Experience with lithium battery management, electric propulsion, or hybrid-electric vehicles is a big plus, as is time spent in requirements databases like DOORS or JAMA. If you've worked on Experimental, TSO, or STC certification projects, or you know your way around aircraft power, control, and communications architectures, we want to talk to you.
The same goes for familiarity with common databuses (CAN, Ethernet, ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485), built-in test (BIT) functions, and working in an aerospace quality and configuration management environment.
Who thrives here
The people who do well at EPS think in systems. They see how tools, data, and workflows connect and spot the gaps. They're detail-obsessed, follow documented standards, and keep data accurate and consistent.
They enjoy working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, and customer teams, and they're always looking for a better way to do things.
Why EPS?
You'll work on technology that's changing how vehicles are powered, from commercial aerospace to military applications, alongside a team that takes safety and innovation seriously. If you want your work to make a real difference in the field, this is a great place to do it.
