Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Position Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Position Summary: Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Service (ACAPS), a leading medical practice dedicated to comprehensive mental healthcare, is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team and deliver compassionate care to a diverse patient population.

Job Responsibilities

• Outpatient Setting: Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including history taking, mental status examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests (if applicable).
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and others.
• Prescribe medications and manage medication regimens for mental health conditions.
• Provide patient education and counseling on coping mechanisms, healthy lifestyle choices, and mental health self-management.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records.

Inpatient Setting (if applicable)

Collaborate with physicians on patient care plans for hospitalized patients with mental health conditions. Perform mental health assessments, including history taking, mental status examinations, and monitoring vital signs. Manage and adjust treatment plans as needed based on patient progress.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests (if applicable). Educate patients and families about their condition and treatment plan. Document patient care comprehensively in the electronic health record (EHR).

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• Active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.
• Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP) or a related field.
• National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a PMHNP in a combined outpatient and inpatient setting (or demonstrably relevant experience in mental health care).
