About this role
Corporate Accountant – Red Bank, NJ
$90,000 - $115,000 base salary | Full-time | Office-based in Red Bank
Denholtz is looking for a hands-on corporate accountant to run the monthly accounting cycle for our corporate and management entities. You’ll own payroll and 401(k) accounting, corporate card coding, fee income and property rebills, and intercompany reconciliations across roughly 28 entities, mainly in Yardi.
You’ll also be our day-to-day contact with our outsourced accounting firm, reviewing their work and keeping the corporate close on schedule. You’ll work closely with leadership, HR, and our property accounting team, and you’ll have real ownership over how corporate accounting gets done.
What you’ll do
- Prepare payroll journal entries for union and non-union payrolls from Paycor reports, and update payroll funding amounts each pay period
- Record 401(k) and FSA remittances, prepare the monthly 401(k) match invoice, reconcile 401(k) activity, and book month-end payroll accruals
- Run payroll allocations and true-ups to properties, and calculate quarterly overtime rebills
- Code credit card activity, split corporate costs from property rebills, set up payables in Yardi Payscan, and follow up on missing receipts and approvals
- Process recurring corporate bills, including fuel cards, vehicle loans, and corporate insurance, and set up new vendors and entities in Yardi
- Calculate monthly management, construction, and asset management fees, and prepare third-party management fee, commercial, legal, and leasing commission billing
- Rebill corporate-paid costs to properties, including card charges, Yardi fees, utilities, Procore, construction insurance, and filing fees
- Process and record partner payments, making sure each one is approved, correctly coded, and booked to the right entity
- Process monthly auto allowances for eligible employees and record them in the correct entities
- Collect leasing commission and legal invoices for new leases and lease amendments from the leasing team, and coordinate with our outsourced accounting firm to post the related receivables and payables
- Record distributions and interest received, prepare monthly loan payment calculations, and prepare wire forms for controller approval.
- Review bank reconciliations for about 22 corporate bank accounts, and reconcile intercompany receivables and payables between related entities
- Serve as the day-to-day contact for our outsourced accounting firm: answer their queries, review monthly operating reports, and check their invoices against the engagement terms
- Own the corporate month-end close checklist, and support financial statements, the annual audit, 1099s, and tax schedules
- Keep written procedures and SharePoint files current, and take on special projects as they come up
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or a multi-entity company
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, journal entries, accruals, intercompany accounting, and reconciliations
- Hands-on payroll accounting experience, including 401(k) and benefit remittances; union payroll experience is a plus
- Experience working with an outsourced accounting team, including reviewing their work and holding them to deadlines
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, SUMIFS, and lookups
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager, including Payscan and commercial billing, or similar accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and the discipline to hit recurring payroll and month-end deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Experience with Brex, Paycor, Procore, Treasury Management, and SharePoint, and a CPA license or progress toward one, are a plus
What you get
Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications, and offers above the posted range may be considered for exceptional candidates.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid vacation, sick days, and holidays
- Professional development support
