About this role

Job Description

The Senior Solutions Architect owns the end-to-end architecture for complex, multi-domain, and higher-risk healthcare payer engagements, with a focus on core administration systems (Claims Processing, Billing, Enrollment, Provider Management) and modern platform enablement.

This individual serves as the primary escalation point for design decisions during delivery and drives the creation of reusable enterprise solution patterns across cloud platforms, core systems (e.g., MetaVance), and AI-enabled solutions.

This role bridges traditional core health plan processing with modern paradigms—leveraging AI, intelligent automation, microservices, and cloud-native architectures to drive scalable digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Defines solution architecture for programs/projects and key initiatives
  • Works closely with IT and the leadership team, to clarify requirements and define the solution that is consistent with the enterprise architecture
  • Works closely with the product and development teams to design and implement those solutions
  • Takes on a leadership role as necessary focusing on design and development execution
  • End-to-End Delivery Architecture: Leads solution architecture for enterprise initiatives across core healthcare payer domains (Claims, Billing, Enrollment), platform modernization, and AI-driven capabilities
  • Pattern Definition & Acceleration: Defines and codifies reusable architecture blueprints, design patterns, and accelerators to streamline discovery, design, and delivery timelines
  • Architecture Governance & Design: Interprets enterprise architecture standards, participates in Architecture Review Boards (ARB), and collaborates with Principal Architects on complex or precedent-setting decisions
  • Modernization Strategy: Drives cloud-native, event-driven, API-first, and Generative/Agentic AI capabilities into core platform delivery workflows
  • Technical Mentorship: Mentors architects, tech leads, and engineering teams on solution design, platform capabilities, AI adoption, and architecture best practices

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Application Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture within Healthcare Payer domains or large-scale complex software delivery
  • Core Administration Depth: Hands-on architecture experience with healthcare core administration platforms (e.g., MetaVance or similar), with deep understanding of Claims Processing, Billing, Membership, Enrollment, Benefits Configuration, Provider Management, and Customer Service
  • Cross-Domain Delivery: Demonstrated ownership of enterprise-scale solution delivery from initial discovery through architecture, detailed design, implementation, and production rollout
  • Cloud-Native Design: Experience architecting cloud-native and event-driven architectures leveraging microservices, messaging patterns (Azure Service Bus, Event Grid), and modern integration frameworks
  • Architecture Artifacts: Experience translating high-level designs into structured implementation artifacts (API contracts, event schemas, Infrastructure-as-Code, and integration specifications)
  • AI/ML & Generative AI Solutioning: Proven experience evaluating, architecting, and implementing AI/ML, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI frameworks using Azure AI Services
  • Responsible AI & Governance: Understanding of enterprise AI governance, security, compliance, and Responsible AI frameworks
  • AI-Assisted Engineering: Fluency with AI-assisted development and delivery tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT Enterprise) as an integral part of the architecture and software development lifecycle
  • Agile Integration (Preferred): Experience embedded directly within active Agile/DevOps delivery teams, actively guiding execution rather than operating solely in an advisory capacity
  • Interoperability & Standards (Preferred): Knowledge of healthcare interoperability and regulatory standards (FHIR, HL7, X12, HIPAA)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Preferred): Direct experience with IaC frameworks (Terraform, Bicep) and automated CI/CD patterns
  • Vendor & Platform Selection (Preferred): Track record of leading enterprise-scale vendor evaluations, platform selections, and core system modernizations
  • Certifications (Preferred): Azure Solutions Architect, Azure AI Engineer, relevant healthcare/AI certifications
