Systems Engineer – MBSE / Requirements

Position Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support a complex defense program in Huntsville, Alabama. This position supports requirements development, system design, integration, verification and validation.

The successful candidate will translate customer and product requirements into integrated system solutions while accounting for technical, schedule, cost and interface constraints. The role involves requirements management, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and collaboration across software, hardware, test and other engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability/effectiveness analysis
• Translate customer and product requirements into system-level solutions that account for technical, schedule and cost constraints
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition
• Translate system requirements into hardware and software specifications
• Develop, decompose, coordinate and maintain system, software and interface requirements
• Apply MBSE methodologies and modeling tools to system development
• Support system integration and test activities
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to track progress and resolve technical issues
• Work with stakeholders to establish appropriate verification and validation of system and software requirements
• Support automated software requirements testing and analysis
• Work within an Agile development environment using Jira and Confluence

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of related experience, master’s degree with at least 3 years of related experience, or a PhD with relevant experience
• Degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry; ABET accreditation is preferred but not required
• Professional systems engineering experience involving requirements development, decomposition, allocation, integration and/or verification and validation
• Experience with IBM DOORS or a comparable requirements management environment
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Familiarity with Agile terminology, processes and best practices
• Experience or demonstrated familiarity with MBSE
• Experience with Cameo or a comparable system modeling tool
• Understanding of system interfaces and the relationship between hardware and software requirements
• Familiarity with automated software requirements testing and analysis
• Minimum Interim Secret clearance required to begin work, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
• Ability to work fully on-site in Huntsville, Alabama

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting missile-defense or other complex defense programs
• Experience defining or managing hardware-to-software interfaces
• Experience working on large, complex DoD systems
• Experience with SysML and model-based requirements and architecture development

Pay: $115,000. 00 - $140,000. 00 per year
